Scale I Build

  1. Picked up a new model last week in Reno. Looking forward to learning from my mistakes on my previous kit 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo. This is the Revell 1965 Chip Foose edition Chevy Impala With Clear
  2. Looking to build a 70 for a friend for Christmas. He has wanted a 1:1 for years and i believe he has stated before that it would be burnt orange on 35s with a small lift. So i am looking for some ideas to get me an idea. I wanna see what yall have built. 2wd 4wd lifted or slammed lets see what ya got. Also i have a 75 2wd f250 1:1 that i am replicating what i want it to be so lets see some of those built up too. I have asked him for input but havent had him send me any real ideas yet. Thanks Y'all.
  3. I was almost finished with the paint on this car and made some pretty dumb mistakes. This was the first car I chose since getting back into the hobby. She spent a few days in the purple pond and then Dawn Detergent and water. I've decided to spray Duplicolor Primer/Sealer to hopefully ensure that I don't have ant issues from the previous work. I'll sand her down tomorrow and shoot the second coat. Then it'll be time for Duplicolor Universal Black! I'm posting from my iPhone and it isn't very friendly with the text box and adding attachments. Here's some before and after and then after the strip down pictures. After those are photos with the new primer.
  4. This is the Van from the movie "Short Circuit", a cute movie from the 80s about an errant robot that escapes its creators and helps a young woman find love. The Van is a Chevy "Candy Van" kit from AMT with GMC grille and scratchbuilt box cargo area. The decals are exclusive to Pattos Place. Special thanks to Doobie for the GMC grille. The rims and tires are from scene unlimited. You can catch up on the build here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/103932-gmc-box-truck/
  5. Hello from Central Arkansas… I've built models on and off for longer than I care to remember… I am currently building a "Full Size" 1965 Chevy C10 doing a frame off rest-mod… I started on this project back in 2012 and due to the scope of this project I decided to build a scale model of the truck I am aiming to build… Since the first 65 C10 model, I've built a number of other models during the winter months and plan on building another 65 C10 that will be closer to what I am actually building… Due to the number of models I've built, and seeing some other Dioramas that other truck enthusiasts have built, I now want to tackle a Diorama… While searching for diorama supplies I found this site… So here I am, and I look forward to sharing some pics of what I've built and my diorama as it begins to come together...
  6. It all started with one little story I told Model Brain, here on this forum. Then he gave me a box full with G20 parts and 3 (!!) bodies! It came in earlier, a lot earlier. But I decided it was time to start this project. Jonathan allready did a tremendous job cutting out the windows, their not completly the same, but that will be fixed along the build. I'm happy with this generous gift and will have a blast building it! My plan is to take a old family hauler that has been put away and save it by making it more powerfull and better cornercarving with newer suspension. Any suggestion's on donorkits? This will be a loooong period project because I don't have a lot of money and time. Wheels were leftover from Revell's '69 Corvette and tires are from a C4 diecast wich I tore apart. And the other part of Jon's gift! Hope you guys like to follow it and since this is my first build here I will tell you guys, I not a fast builder. Do you have tips on things I need to pay attention to or donorkits, let me know, I'm still a rookie builder. Jamie
  7. Coca-Cola Johnny Lightning 1955 Chevy Sedan Delivery in 1/18 scale. The hood has a cutout option like Ertl had plans for some Hot Rod versions.
  8. I have been packing for a few months now, hoping to move in November. The good part is my new model shop will be in full time air conditioned space. So .. I'm going to post a model from the past. This is a 1/18 Johnny Lightning diecast done by Ertl several years ago. It has opening hood and rear gate but not the doors. Door handles are molded on but does have some nice detail over-all. If you're going to get serious about cutting up diecast, you need this RotoZip. Stay tuned! AzTom
  9. Hello. Is there any good donors who can be used to convert the 55-57 Chevrolet pick up/suburban to 4x4? Maby anyone know of any aftermarket or kit who can have the suspension parts? I`m not looking for anything crazy tall like monster trucks or such,i`m hoping to get close to factory ride height,or around there. I`ll throw in a referance picture so you can see what i was hoping to get close to. I follow a guy on Youtube called redneck restoration, and there was a really interesting 55-57 Stepside, original 4x4 with manual, this car was fitted with a factory Pontiac 317. This kinda inspired me,or got me set for another project, like i havent got enought Thanks Tommy
  10. 67 Camaro No Time All Motor Street Car. Powered By a Vcg Resins 572(close to 1:1 CI), Turbo 400 Transmission & Dominator Carburetor. Was paid to build as a father day gift the 1:1 is in the pics. The Pro Stars and Drag lites are from Madmodeling. Car is on 28x10.5 slick and stock suspension. Street Cars in grudge racing are classified as Full Interior(Backseats & Fronts, only a roll bar & full exhaust no side exit headers). Has stock fuel cell hood had some last minute paint problems so I will be sending it to him this week. This is probably my only truly complete build Lol & 1st completed 1 of 2015. Hope you all enjoy.
  11. Had an issue with the cab trying to get it on the chassis which caused much cursing, but it finally came out looking great.
  12. Hi there ! Here is my last realisation, a 1969 Camaro SS. This is the 1/25 Baldwin motion kit from Revell. That car has been sitting in a field for a while, so the rust has began to attack the body, but it's still solid and in a pretty good shape... but a restoration is needed... as soon as possible. The last owner has installed a Baldwin Motion style hood and Cragar wheels, but let the car in a field a few years later.... Well, I let you see some pictures !
  13. This model was built for Moson model show 2015 in Hungary and it took me 8 days from start to finish. Some flaws are present because i was rushing this build, but it will remind me that i have to start building a kit earlier than one week before it needs to be finished The model is almost box stock, i only added engine wiring, BMF trim and light bulbs to the headlights.
  14. Loved the first kit so much I went out and got another. There's still a few flaws and I'm putting the finishing touches on them. I just wanted to get the pics while it was nice and sunny out; we're expecting rain soon. The color, of all the big bottles of yellow paint they could have, is Blue Angels Yellow oddly enough. As always I built it stock for my collection.
  15. Hi guys, i want to share with you this step by step build of this Chevy Nova used in the movie Beverly Hills cop driven by the funny cop Axel Foley. I based my model on the Chevy Nova Copo made by revell with some minor modifications. The basic idea is that this is a pretty weathered and rusty chevy car The kit is well manufactured, built in white almost with no flash what make the work easier. The initial idea was make some dent on the body due to the actual state of the car in the movie. I did some tests onto an old model i have with some heat coming from a hair dryer On this Audi it worked pretty good, the plastic was warped easy, however when i tried to do this on the Nova the plastic was really hard to warp no matter how much temperature i gave with the hair dryer., actually i ended breaking the left window pillar.[:S] I repaired this window pillar with some styrene bar that i had. The left door actually ended a little dent, i think im going to let it like that and not trying to do this on other parts of the car, because i can end breaking the full body The engine came pretty well detailed, although came with no plug wires, so im going to try building them with phone wires
  16. Okay, so I was working on a scale front placement conversion of the 4th generation 'vette LS V8 drivetrain, and came across/inspired by this article about some guys making a LS V12 engine from couple of V8s ....it's even easier for us to do in plastic, and so I figured why not? How cool would a V12 LS hot rod be!? going to work on the block next, but otherwise should use all the same ancillaries, only manifolds to construct otherwise
  17. Good afternoon Guys, Happy new Year! With the rain here in Vancouver (what a surprise!), I decided to start my new kit than I got, Chevy 39 Coupe. I lowered a little bit the back suspension, open trunk and hinges, body has been primed with PlastiKote Sandable primer. I will use One Coat lacquer from Testors, but I do not know which color yet! any idea? the base coat, I am hesitating between gold, silver or even copper! interior I do not know yet as well. here are some pics thank you for watching. Mickael
  18. Starting a Camaro being built for drag days Doing the engine first. Went with a Chevy engine red With a lil black wash to make a look a lil used Also my first attempt at doing spark plug wires so this will be a first
  19. hi folks... this is my interpretation of Revell´s `70 Chevelle SS. have fun with the pics: greetings maik
  20. Starting a new build from the Texaco Chevy Truck kit by AMT. Adding my own twists like a stretched 67 Corvette chassis, side mount Webber carbs and some PB tire/wheels. I also shortened the bed 6 scale inches, added an Olds bumper and some deep headlights. I hope to apply a nice fade paint scheme. Lets see where it goes...
  21. Here is my 69 stock a replica of a frI ends I built for her, fun build.
  22. heres the start.....bought it off of ebay and plan on rebuilding and repainting it going to at some custom touches to it and possibly hook up an amt flatbed or lowboy hauling junk cars and car parts...enjoy
  23. Here´s my version of this kit. Almost box stock, tyres from Revell ´68 Charger with whitewall stickers from Pegasus. Basic plumbing & wiring and few modifications. Color: Tamiya luftwaffe blue. Flame color: Tamiya pearl white & pearl clear. I used flame lazy Modeler flame masks. Allthought kit needed a lot of work I´m still quite happy with the result. Of course there´s many things that I now could do better and that´s the reason I´m planning to buid a Fleetline version in the near future. Questions and comments are welcomed as usual. Thanks for looking!
  24. Ever since I found out they were making the model, I've been excited for it. I think this is the best year for the Camaro from a styling stand point. This was one of the best kits I've ever built. The pieces fit good and everything is there. There were plenty of decals as well. I only had two issues with the kit: 1. While there was a hole in the transmition for the drive shaft, there was not one in the axle of my model. So I drew some blood trying to put one in for it. I don't know if something went wrong with the molding of mine or not. But it was an issue. 2. The other issue was the tires. They have pins which have to be inserted into them. They didn't fit onto the rimes right and it took a lot of playing with it so the tires would be straight. Over all though, I was happy with the kit.
  25. This was a convertible conversion I built from an AMT '64 Hardtop kit. The resin boot came from the Modelhaus. I built this over 20 years ago and recently pulled it out of my display case to re-photograph it. You can see all the other pics and read the details on my site at the link. http://www.svensworldofwheels.com/64sspage.html
