I wanted a late 60s to early 70s period look, so I swapped out the kit tires and wheels for TorqThrust mags on the front with slot mags and Micky Thompson slicks on the rear. I do wish that I'd set the seat and roll bar back a little, but I guess that with each kit we build, we have to find one thing that bothers us and keeps us humble. This one was a two-fer though. Between tweezers that refuse to keep hold of the door handles and uncooperative fat fingers, I managed to set the door handles too high. The front valance on the kit had a factory defect on it that looked like somebody had laid a hot bar or something across it, so that was not used. The paint color was selected scientifically. I didn't want the orange, red, or even the black that is currently very popular, so I selected several colors of paint that I found interesting, laid them out on a table, closed my eyes and moved them around, and with my eyes still closed, picked up a can, and that's the color I used; Testors 1642 Gloss Custom Gold Metal Flake. I did make a couple of minor alterations to the engine and chassis from the kit offering. I'm one of the few modelers that really don't get much into engines, with most of my kits just receiving basic engines from the box, and the hoods glued shut. Once-in-awhile, I let loose and get serious in detailing. This Dodge got full engine and chassis detail. Here, Flo, one of the mechanics at Otto Ray Sing Classic Car Center inspects my work.

Hello to all, Just moved over from the SA forum. Thought I would throw in pics of my favorite builds. Note: I simply can't seem to build out of the box. Poseable front wheels and a lowered front suspension are generally unavoidable for me. ? BTW my favorite (or most used) emoji used to be 'banging my head against the wall' - I guess that describes the way I see myself during building. Question: I like to make slideshow videos of my builds,mwith music I think goes well with the car, and post them on youtube. Are links to those allowed/welcome here? Regards, Csaba

By far my best build & also my proudest build!! My '68 Dodge Charger with a 440 big block. It took me over a month to complete as I submerged myself into the detail of the car. This car truly helped me grow as a builder & I can't wait to see what comes next after this one!!

Hi all! I am new to the forum and would like to share pictures of my Dodge Charger model which I'm currently building: I picked this up from a yard sale last year for maybe $5. The model quality is quite bad, so I figured I'd do something custom and not build it as the General Lee. The chrome on this model was terrible, I stripped everything for re-chroming with Alclad. The engine was primed and sprayed using Zero Paints Orange. The valve covers which came chrome were stripped and painted matte black. The wheels and roll cage were painted in Zero Paints Gold. The wheels actually had great detail after stripping off the old thick chrome. Detailing the wheels. After spraying the stripped parts with Alclad you can really see a difference in quality. Stripping the chrome basically saved this model from looking like a cheap kids toy. Detailed the engine with some spark plug wires which was a first for me. Also created my own pulleys and fan belt using black tape. For the interior I wanted to do something stock so I went with a blue interior. I sprayed Zero Paints light blue metallic over black so that it will be a couple shades darker then the exterior which will be done over white primer. I added a touch of red to the tachometer for something different.

Hello After I got the Color Me Gone Dodge finished, I started an other Dodge stocker. It's Revell's 1968 Charger which will be a modern day stocker. I will try to build it as close to how they are nowadays, lets see how I'll manage... It will be orange body with black interior. I started by painting the body, but it looks like it needs to do some more bodywork with it and repaint it again. I also painted some small parts as seen in the pics. The engine will be a Hemi and I'll use my favorite wheels, the Centerlines. I have removed the original fuel tank, and will use a fuel cell in the trunk. Here are some pics from today:

Hi everyone. I've just completed my newest build this year. I used an old General Lee kit that I had been given a long time ago. I never thought I would build this but I have to say I had a lot of fun. I can't tell you what year it is but I know that the back window is not like the regular General Lee's that I have seen. Also, I modified the car as I am going against my best friends in a build off! Things that went well include: Paint came out pretty good, my best yet I created the vinyl top using the masking tape (blue tape) method Staggered wheels overall color scheme Well, here it goes.

Project number 5... Just finished with a 1982 Renault 5 Turbo and thanks to a fellow member (You know who you are), decided to build the Revell Special Edition 68' Dodge Charger R/T; this kit is way above my skill level, but I'm willing to give it my best shot. Curiously, I was not able to find a single photo of the car as shown in the Hemified version (Not a complete model, not a real car... Nothing!!!)... So I would like to make it just like it But, since I usually buy two kits (In case I ruin something), would like to paint the second body in full black (This also to be used as a race version). This kit is massive, well, for my newbie skills at least, and is probably the toughest I have yet to deal with, so please hang tight. Thank you for reading.

I've been working on this model for about a month (A lot of hours!) and i finally got it finished up tonight... i was gonna wait until the weekend to post up pics in this section, but the pics i got will do for now.. By the time i get home from work, its dark so i'll get better pics on saturday outside. I built this model after one of my Dads Friends cars.. The reference pic i had of the car was from the mid seventies, so i built it to look like the pic. I have all the build progress in the "on the workbench" section. I scratch build the shackle extensions, used the driving lights from a shelby charger model kit, front rims are from ebay, rear wheels are from rosco's cop car kit and the front tires are from the 69 GTX kit.
