Scale I Build

  1. Revell 1:25 Ford Expedition Hello friends! I would like to introduce you to my latest completed project. This is the Ford Expedition by Revell as a snap kit. He was originally set up as a police ssv. Enclosed in the kit the labels as self-adhesive ending. I didn't like that and I built the Ford as a civilian vehicle. The wheels come from another kit. Have fun watching. Paint with a gold-colored spray on black body. Over it turquoise glass paint. With the golden shade the colour is greenish. I would be very pleased about comments. Greetings from Jan
  2. Hi, I started this a while ago. The cab was an ebay buy but it was bad so I cut the back off & made it a crew cab. The cab has been sitting around for years & I finally figured I'd do some work to it. I stretched the frame & built the body from scratch. I have more pictures but I can't load them, something about the size of the picture or something. I'm not a computer person at all. This & ebay is about all I can handle. Anyway I'll get some more pics as I go & hopefully I'll be able to load them.
  3. Hello everyone. I finished up ICM's 1911 Ford Touring car. It is a great kit that has great details but also has its few flaws. The paint is Tamiya lacquer and the model is out of the box. Since you're only able to build the model with the top up, I used the folded roof from the AMT T kit to replicate the roof so the interior is able to be seen better. Here is the completed car:
  4. There’s some discussions about Lindberg 1:20 kits on this site lately so I thought it was a good time to show my completed Ford Explorer Sport from Lindberg. I built this kit five years ago and it went fine to built, lots of details. There were three issues I remember, the taillights were tricky to get in place. The backside of the frontseat didn’t match completely so I had to use a sandpaper to remove the excessive material (so you don’t se the line between the front- and backseat). I also hade to drill out the holes in the roof for the roof rack (there were holes on the inside of the roof but they didn’t went all the way through), this can also be a good thing if you don’t want a roof rack. Overall, this was a joy to build as I like the subject. The glue on the taillights is a result of my struggle to get them to fit, they do fit but it was tight.
  5. I received a juke box ford through a trade with a friend of mine, but it's just the body and windows. Therefore, this will be another tube chassis build. I'm also gonna make the supercharger from scratch as well as using one of my custom motors. I'm trying something a little different with the chassis as far as the detail so wish me luck
  6. Hello friends! Today I want to introduce you to my Ford F350 Duallie with Cartrailor. The Fordbausatz was launched as a re-edition of Revell (previously Monogram). So I had the idea of reconstructing a car van that I saw on my USA trip 2017 on the way to Smithsonian Institute of Air and Space in Washington, D.C. on interstate. The Trailor is i:25 by Galaxy Limited models on the scale I found in the bay. Galaxy has several in the program, this one is the longest with 38 ' feet in the original. The roof was raised. Thus, 3 cars are possible. The cargo consists of 3!: 24 Diecast models. I didn't make the roof construction quite as high as in the original, but after measuring it already fits. Here are the original pictures: the last picture is a bit blurred, but you can see how it looks from the front. Here is the model: The team has been in use for a few years and has some repairs and miles behind....... Here are some pictures with a Singletrailor....... The Trailor is from Motomax (Diecast, 1:24): Have fun watching. Greetings from Jan
  7. I didn't see much different between the forthcoming Revell Baja Bronco and the existing Revell Ford Bronco kit, but after looking at enlarged images, there are a few noteworthy changes: Hexagonal wheel arches with integral fender flares New tires (anyone recognize them to be a replica of a real tire?) Newly engraved nameplate above the front side marker lights(?) Instruction sheet is up and downloadable: http://manuals.hobbico.com/rmx/85-4436.pdf Pics of the new Baja Bronco and the existing Ford Bronco, for comparison:
  8. this pickup has taken a long time to finish. I had to wait for 2 months to get parts that were missing in the box from Revell. Was supposed to take 2 weeks. hope you all like my work. Enjoy. all comments are welcomed as usual

  10. Hi guys and merry christmas for you all!! Here is my last one for year 2017, its Revell 29` roadster.. I did plug wires and exhaust end on rear, then i robbed those flames and pinstripes from 32 sedan kit.. Paint is Tamiya TS-89 pearl blue, paint job came out nice and shiny, only panel lines did run off paint, well better luck next time... Here are photos, enjoy
  11. I posted this in the Big Boys section ,but wanted to share here as well. I just working on the massive Ford GT kit in 12th . The kit is very well done and the rear fenders are separate units too make the painting of the body easier. Very well done on there part. This is a curbside kit with little engine detail. The interior is well done which I will be adding too. Wires a few more boxes and of corse carbon. Just received 8 sheets from Scale Motorsports today in 20th scale. The 12th looks to big. Chassis is two parts that screw together with four screws. The body has the stripe scribed in to make masking easier and straight. Paint will be gravity in the correct colors.
  12. Man, this one kicked my butt. I was trying to go with old stock car racer look, but the black paint (which I now know is very difficult to work with) got really dirty and of course, I frosted the glass again (I now use glass glue!). So I panted the windows red and rusted it up. The skull and numbers, lettering etc. I hand painted. I like how it looks, but it is certainly a basket case. I even lost the radiator hose... Ah, the learning process.
  13. There is my first try to built rusty model, I built that for the Blair Pletcher tribute built ! I use the salt method for my rusty job, I try to do my best for my first time! I have a lot of fun tu built that!
  14. My latest 1/25 build, consisting of 800 scratchbuilt and aftermarket parts. Zero kit parts were used. It weighs in at 6 lbs! The car debuted this month in Atlanta at the ACME Southern Nationals NNL with Scale Auto Magazine in attendance as well. It won a coveted Overall Top 10 Award and got some photo op time with Scale Auto. A parts list is seen in the YouTube Build video in case I don't get around to answering questions about who made what lol. https://youtu.be/oAukHkojAkQ
  15. Picked this up for $8 at a place called Ollies that sells discount goods along with a few other models. Came out really good, I just hate having to make the suspension on these things. I don't have four arms to hold the things down and glue. 16. This one has a few little issues to be taken care of (radiator cap, black paint on ends of rear axles where they're exposed, mis-alignment of driver's side interior panel(doh!), but it's pretty much done. The build began in September 2011, and it's progressed in fits and starts since then. Thanks to Acecargarageguy for transmission advice (way back when), and Eric Macleod for trading me a box of old Monogram and MPC tires. They worked out very nicely. A few notes on the build and parts: -Monogram '30 coupe, chopped, wheel wells/bead detail added, Revell '32 5w louvered trunk modified to fit, cowl light and gas filler holes filled. Beltline trim added in half-round styrene and strip plastic. Windows made from overhead projector sheets. -Revell '32 5w interior, brush painted in thin layers of acrylic reds to mimic oxblood leather. Piston shifter and '40 Ford dashboard from same kit. AMT '40 Ford steering wheel. -Floor modified to match width of 1/24 Monogram body. Scratchbuilt trunk floor and interior. -Styrene trunk lid detail and hinges. Gas tank from Lindberg roadster pickup, parts box cap. -Modified Revell '32 frame. Front crossmember moved forward to lengthen wheelbase, Revell '37 Ford PU X-member, Monogram '30 rear crossmember, custom transmission crossmember. Original molded-in floor removed from frame. Friction shocks added from Revell '29 Pickup. -Firewall footwells flattened for engine clearance, scratchbuilt fuel blocks (styrene, hypodermic needle pieces) -Modified Revell '37 Ford axle (dropped, ends filled, posed steering). Scratchbuilt drag link. Pitman arm from Revell '29 Tudor. Metal mono-spring on '29 spring hangars, scratchbuilt radius rods with early style rod-ends. Revell '50 F1 pickup steering box. -AMT phantom Vickie headlight lenses and bezels on modified AMT '40 Ford "Rides" headlight buckets. Headlight stands are cut-down AMT Double-T parts. Taillights are Revell '37 ford with aluminum tube bezels and lenses made by melting red styrene into the bezels with liquid glue. Taillights have 5-min Epoxy on top to give them a domed shape. -Monogram '32 ford roadster '40 Ford-style brake backing plates, plumbed with partial brake lines. -AMT '53 Ford PU Desoto Firedome hemi engine. AMT '57 corvette T-10 transmission with custom JB weld adapter (ha!). Stock exhaust manifolds adapted to side exhaust dumps made from sprue to imitate exhaust pipes made from cut-down '30s Ford torque tubes. Scratchbuilt "U-fab" style intake. Carbs from '53 PU dechromed, split (they're molded in pairs). Parts Box resin intake scoops modified and re-cast, painted with Alclad. Fuel lines are clear stretchy beading wire coated with a red sharpie. Carb linkage made from thin wire crimped on the ends. Scratchbuilt stock-style valley cover and alternator bracket. Scratchbuilt thermostat housing/water hoses between intake and radiator. -aluminum driveshaft with slip joint. Rearend is a quickchange (double dragster?) combined with axle housings from Tweedy pie (I think). -Front tires are Revell '37 Ford PU. Wheels are Revell '32 5w kit's 40-Ford style pieces with AMT '40 Ford "Deluxe" cap on one side only. -Rear tires are MPC '31 Chrysler with modified Monogram '41 Lincoln wheels ('40 ford center lug detail spliced into the Lincoln wheels) -Door handles from Revell '30 Ford touring. License plate from '30 Revell Ford Woody.
  17. Let me know your opinions about this Ford cab and notify me if you are interested.
  18. Here's the completed build up for Moebius, while I was putting this together I discovered a few small things that needed tweaked. I believe Dave has it all resolved now and it should be ready for production very soon. I have my fingers crossed that they'll be shipping these before the Holidays. In the future I would like to see some more appropriate all terrain tires added to the kit. Regardless, I think ‘70 Ford F-100 4x4 pickup is a welcome addition to the Moebius Truck line up. I can’t wait to see what other modelers will do with it. -Steve
  19. https://whulsey.smugmug.com/Cars/2016-10-01-Sanderson-All-Ford-Show/ Here's from last year show that I just got uploaded. At least a couple of weeks before this year's show.
  20. Well, hello all. I have been collecting models off and on for some time Mainly Ford kits, or show rods. I have scales 1:43, 1:32, 1:24, 1:25, and the 1:20. I am a big fan the the Early Iron Series ( all fords ), and the 1:20 scale Ford Econoline vans ( cause I own one lol ). The pictures are of some of my kits
  21. Gonna give weathering a shot on this 53 Ford pickup. It's going to be a work truck and I'll be going with the salting technique over this rust colored primer.
  22. Hi all, I've been absent from this forum for a while but I recently completed some builds (some progress, amazing! ) which I thought I'd share. I've been visiting fairly often, despite not posting, and really enjoying the quality work on display. This is the old 1953 Ford Pickup, marketed by Round2 with the stock, service and custom options. What a fun kit! I really enjoyed putting this together, and I tried the rubbed-off salt technique to recreate rust. I didn't get it quite right, but I still like it. The various clutter parts in the bed are all rom the kit. I enjoyed this and now I want to build a new stock version, a custom version and maybe more! Thanks for looking.
  23. Hi all, been away for a while but recently got my act together and completed a couple of models. This is apparently a Ford Ranger stepside/flareside: there seems to be some doubt online, but I think this model, based on the F-150 series, was marketed as a Ranger before the smaller Ranger series was introduced. I could be wrong and am happy to be corrected! Built straight from the box, engine bay sealed shut as the kit lacks a firewall/bulkhead and really, I generally display my models with the bonnet/hood closed anyway. My first attempt at sealing decals underneath the lacquer coat, which worked OK apart from where the decals are not 100% flat to the body. I'm not sure if the dark red interior colour is totally realistic, but I liked it so there it is. Thanks for looking.
