Hi guys. I just finished my fourth 1950's build in the last two months. This 55 convertible is a Monogram kit, and it builds up nice, although it reminds me of some of the fiddly Revell kits of the 1960's. No major problems, though. I chose the orange color based on a real 55 convert I've seen in local car shows. The orange is Allis-Chalmer orange tractor paint, and the white is Testors gloss white. The interior is too glossy - I just forgot to spray on some flat clear before I mated it to the body. Oh, well! The orange is actually much more "orange" than it looks in the photos. Here are some photos of it on my dioramas. I liked doing this build. The 55 Belair is one of my favorite cars. I hope you guys like it!

It looks like everyone is building this kit, so I decided to join in! This is a nice kit. It is well designed, and goes together well. I don't like the whitewall decals. Actually, I don't like messing with decals in general, and these whitewalls were a bugger. The tires curve near the edge, and the flat decals don't want to follow the curve. I used some decal set, which helped, but I still have some wrinkles. Also, the rear wheels seem a little too far rearward, not centered in the opening. The axle positions are fixed, but somehow, I got it a bit too far back. Not changing it now. The paint is Krylon Almond, which is a very light beige. Interior is two tone gray. Here are some pics taken on my garage diorama in sunlight. Here's the interior during the build. Here it is with my 57 ford and an Ulrich Mini-Man on a Sting Ray bicycle. I enjoyed this build. It's nice to build a kit that goes together without a lot of hassles! I hope you guys like it. Sam

Hi, all. My first build of the year is this 57 Ford from the new Revell kit. It's all stock except for a pair of fender skirts. The finish is Krylon in a color called celery. It looked close to Ford's Willow Green from 1957, so I used it. Testors wet look clear was sprayed over it. The whitewalls were painted with an acrylic paint marker. Interior is an olive green with the kit decals on the seats and side panels. This is a beautiful kit - well designed and made. It went together well except that the hood will only open a tiny bit without binding up at the front. It was fine until I made the final assembly. Maybe I didn't get the radiator quite right. Here are some pics. Sorry for the dark pics. My camera settings were a little off. I enjoyed this build. I hope you like it. Comments welcome. Sam

Hey, guys, here's my latest build, a Revell 37 Ford pickup, built out of the box. The only addition is chains for the tailgate. The chain is small jewelry chain from Michael's craft store. The photos were taken outside, in front of my garage diorama. The kit went together well, but the wheelbase seems a little short for the fenders. Seems like the rear wheels should be about 1/8" farther rearward, but I'm not going to try and change it now. The paint is Testors gloss black and Krylon Fusion Hunter Green over flat black to darken it a little. It's a pretty good match to the box art and a real 37 I've seen in this area. To keep it simple, I didn't wire the engine. I got the kit in a trade from Johnny Holt on this forum. Thanks, Johnny! Comments welcome.
