Scale I Build

Found 5 results

  1. An experiment with tape and nail polish. I plan to do more. It was great fun to play with colour and patterns. Parts box wheels, shod with Modelhaus tyres. I hope you like it
  2. I was thinking of improving my airbrush skills and wanted to build something more or less OOB, and concentrate on trying out paint techniques. This popped up on eBay for £20. 38 years old and stil in cellophane! The box interior had that 'old' smell. The Barris decals are rub-on transfers and there's a sheet of self adhesive prismatic sticker material. I'm not going to use either of these, as I intend to paint designs on the body. I removed all the scripts and door handles. The mould seams n the body were feint but there were a few sink marks to deal with. I used the custom rear window and filled the gaps After a fruitless search for Pegasus wheels online, I opted for some nice rims from the AMT 60 Starliner kit, shod with narrow whites from the sorely missed Modelhaus.. A big canvas for some creativity!
  3. Hey I have had this fun little project in the past few days. this 1969 showrod kit went together very nice. the plans was missing so I built it from pictures not really a problem with this one. but I also had my first encounter with Waterslide decals on this kit. but I was really surprised how good that turned out. only struggled with the one inside the sink. but they where also 48 years old but they still went on straight (and no silvering ) i did break the Horn so had to leave it out . i then wired up the engine and added a distributor , it also has custom wheels ill explain them further down. The Rims and Tires. i want to use the originals for another project , so i had to make / get some replacements . the front pizza cutter wheels are from a old Meccano Engineer set. And the rear Slicks are Actually 6 wheels put together . 2x 1:32 scale Siku diecast Terra style Rear tractor Tires. with the thread grinded off with a dremmel and then sanded with sandpaper . and inside those (for rims) i have 2 metal wheels with rubber tires (from yet another engineers set) in each side . this was my second build and i enjoyed the time with it over a couple of days it turned out pretty good. its a wacky thing for sure ..
  4. Been a while since I've really built up anything, but have a newly crafted build space in my basement, and figured it was time to do a quick build. Noticed most of the tributes to the late George Barris touched on his work on the Batmobile, Monkeemobile, and other Kustoms, but my longtime fav, the wild Raiders' Coach, didn't get much attention. I did a little digging and found little else -- this one seems to have made its mark on pop culture back in '68, and then vanished seemingly into thin air. In any case, I managed to get a hold of AMT's 2000 re-pop of the original MPC kit last night, and at least got the frame for the tow rig, the coach chassis, and the two Pontiac 428 blocks glued together. I'll be building it somewhat quickly and largely box stock, but I do have a few little tricks in store for it that you might get some "kicks" out of, so stay tuned. :-) -Evan
