  1. I made a couple of minor changes t the Supernatural 1967 Chevrolet Impala Supernatural kit. It is now a Biscayne police car. I probably don't have all the police items correct, as this is the first time that I've ever done a police car, and I'm out of my comfort zone. I did not include an areal as they have a tendency to get knocked off, or worse, broken. When I introduce it into a diorama sometime in the future, I'll then include the antenna(s). I really expect to see AMT produce a police car from the Supernatural kit as the interest for the kit wanes. For those of you who are considering this transformation, I have some information to add. The rear center of the trunk has to be reworked. Impalas had a trim piece on the lower edge of the trunk. The Biscaynes do not. This trim is molded on with the rear bumper. You will need to carefully cut that from the bumper, sand it smooth, and add it to the bottom of the center trunk lid. The tail lights are also different. Once again, turn to the rear bumper. Carefully file the upper trim from above the lights, leaving the backing intact. After the trim is removed, sand the detail from the light area. I used parts bins lights for it, which suffice quite well, since I'm just going for a shelf model. To reach a higher level of authenticity, I would suggest that you plan ahead and acquire slightly larger lights, and include the trim surrounds for them. The seats have to be addressed. Straight from the kit, the seats don't match each other. I resolved this by sanding both seats semi-smooth. I then added .010 strips for the detail. I did not alter the trim on the doors, as it would not be noticeable through the small window openings. If you're using the beige color that some departments used, you may want to give the door panels consideration. The 1965 Chevelle wagon comes with surf boards and a rack to carry them on. I used the uprights for the racks to build the sides for the light bar. The cross piece was in one of my miscellaneous parts drawers. It was a piece that says remove on it, and probably was from the hood opening section of a long built model. This one was perfect as it had to round areas on either side that matched the emergency strobe lights. Those strobe lights came from the red lens trees for big rig trucks.
  2. Hello Modelers! "Submitted for your approval" .. ( I feel like Rod Serling. Next I'll be seeing strange creatures out my window monkeying with my CVPI!) The start of a 67 Chevy Biscayne 4dr. This takes a bit of doing in that whilst the donor kit is readily available in the 67 Impala SS, it is a fastback and only a 2door to boot. The basic wheelbases are the same between 2-4drs but there is different sheet metal work and termination points on the door tops. The original kit had a very long sloped roof out to the end of the trunk. A conventional "C" pillar had to constructed along with lowering the trunk deck height to sedan like levels. More pics to come but this is the start.. The first pic is from the kit box showing the car's SS (SuperSloping) fastback roofline. That had to go and a new sedan conventional C-pillar built. Yes, it was a PITA. Notice the tops of the doors had to be raised up level to match a new flatter upper roof dripline. A lot of conversions I have seen have left that precipitous drop in door level of the 2dr and just moved on. One was on a STATION WAGON. Anyway, you can see the styrene addition below in white at door tops. Filling it in.. Mor pics to come soon as I am currently building in the solid door window frame uppers. Thanks for looking! Oh, and as I put a notice on the "Parts Wanted' forum, I'm looking for anyone who might have a set of +69 Chevy Nova COPO poverty caps they're willing to part with. In the end, I'll buy a whole kit just to get 'em if I have to but I have to part out kits that way. At any rate, this model will need those one or two years only caps to be accurate. Thanks!!
  3. Well,enough fondling with this and i think i`ll call i done ,despite not to happy with the rear window. It`s got an 454 with 4speed manual,low cowl hood,i added some small red Chevrolet stickers on front fenders,also an red stripe below the doors,there was no moldning on the body,and i think i kinda suits the redline tires. 62 Bel Air steelies,i used some photoetch and tried detail some on the engine. I would like to add hood pins but i dont have any,i think i`ll add later,this and fix the rear window. Also i forgot to mount the revcounter lol. It`s a little dusty,sorry. Any comments are welcome.
  4. Started some months ago,got it painted today and just letting it breathe before clear goes on. Not sure who casted this but they did a sloppy job. The tub was garbage and so was the chassis,i bought it off Ebay a year ago. Maby some left overs who went wrong? Anyway,did my best with getting the body decent,and i used the Monogram Impala Convertible chassis,firewall and tub. The tub had to be modified a bit,also got to replace the area behind the rear seats. I know the doorpanels and rear seat will not be correct,but i had no option,will use bench and correct dash. The idea is to fill in the rear seat,and the use seat pattern decals for front and rear,this will hide the inserted chrome "thing" in the rear seat. Have not decided but i guess it will end up with steelies in body color,hopefully anyone makes nice dogdish caps for this era chevy. The engine will be an 454 or 427 and maby an mystery motor air cleaner from Scenes Unlimited. Ok,here are some pictures of paint. Dash and low cowl hood. I built this to replicate a car my dad used to own and gave it to him for his birthday, the tail lights didn't arrive in the mail so i had to make a last minute purchase and collect the Ed Roth Outlaw. In case anyone's wondering the thing on the areal is a fox tail (My dad had one on his 1:1) I will let the pics do the talking.... All comments welcome.
  6. I started this a while ago and decided to post what I have got so far here. This is what I'm aiming for: here is where I'm at now: i have glued in the doors, removed all side trim, lengthened the roof and begun filling the door lines to make it a 4 door.
