Scale I Build

  1. I started this one about 8 years ago. I decided to take the 409 from Revell's 62 Impala kit and transplant it into the 64. Simple right? Both cars have basically the same frame in real life so it should not have been a big deal to put the engine in it. This is how much of the 64 frame I had to grind away to get the engine to fit. But, I got the engine to fit! Shot the Testors 64 Chevy Silver blue paint on it today. The interior will either be a metallic blue or white and black, not sure right now.
  2. I recently started building a Revell '69 Chevy Nova and can't really decide how to build it. I'd like to see some of your Novas. Different wheel and color combinations are welcome.
  3. The original plan was to paint this Tamiya Metallic green, but something happened on the way to the painting station. I decided to paint it Fathom Green Metallic instead. Here's some pics Thanks for looking! All comments welcomed.
  4. I did a poll on my Instagram (@muurcreations) a few days ago and they wanted me to build barefoot Ronnie’s old nova so I’m giving them what they want lol. I’m my opinion, his car is really under appreciated because it really is beautiful
  5. Shambles

    56 Chevy

Another old build I no longer have. Nice kit, I forget the brand but I think it was a 1/24 scale.
  6. Hi everyone, My first finished build of the year. Texas Terry was my favorite driver growing up and I've always loved the look of the Hagan cars and the pre-aerocoupe Monte Carlo SS body. This build is stock, with the exception of Chimneyville Decals. Overall, the kit was a nice, fun build. I used Tamiya rattle can for the body and chassis. I went for an early season red chassis because I like the bright interior. For the rest of the car, I used Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics. My biggest issue was with the aftermarket decals, which peeled on the edges when applying clear. But it's going on the shelf and overall I'm fairly happy with it.
  7. I started anothe truck build for another customer, this one is simple but gonna be nice as well
  8. I started on a replica for a customer of his truck, I really wish i had another kit I could back half and do it up
  9. Well, if you haven't noticed by my profile pic, I'm a Chevelle guy. When I saw this kit coming out I knew I had to have it. This is the Chevelle I always wanted. I wanted to be the first to post, but because of work wasn't able to get the job done, so I got beat by a couple days. 10. Hi everyone! My name is Jake and I'm new to the forum. It's tough finding a good NASCAR model community so I'm really pleased to join y'all. Here are some photos of my first NASCAR build, which I finished about a year and a half ago. I started with a Jimmie Johnson Snaptite kit and was pretty impressed with it. I didn't do much modification, just some minor detailing here and there. I used (I think) Slixx decals for the Coke throwback and some extra hood pins I got from Mike's Decals. Paint was TS-8 for the red and Vallejo acrylics for the gold. I just started the Bobby Allison Coke Mercury Cyclone from Polar Lights and cannot wait to get the 2 cars side by side. Thanks for looking!
  11. I posted previously about Kodiak Supply decal paper here. It's pretty amazing stuff. I'm a career graphic designer who specializes in motorsports design. Specifically dirt oval. That being said, Kyle Larson is my guy. With this being one of my first cars of making my own decals, I wanted it to be fairly simple so I can working out the kinks of the process. You'll be seeing quite a few more of his more specialized cars. I want to tackle the AXE Peace car next. I'll keep you posted on how the build progresses.
  12. I had no clue as to what color I originally wanted to paint this one since it had been so long since I started it, (2014) but finally decided on Testor's Italian Red. Not too bad. I'll get rid of that finger print! Thanks for looking, all comments welcomed.
  13. I want to make a model of my son's 1:1 1981 Chevy truck he inherited from my dad. I've got the body itself sorted out, including scratch building the camper shell, but I need to figure out the grille. I did a Google search and found a picture of a model with the correct grille. The grille looks like it is resin. I'm looking for that EXACT grille.
  14. I'm not a model builder. More of a model tinkerer. I'm hoping to improve as I've never actually successfully completed a model. I hope to learn the skills needed to be satisfied enough to actually complete one and mover onto number 2. I'm a Chevy guy by nature and mostly want to find 51 Chevy kits but will be practicing with others as well as trying to build the 69 Nova (I'd actually want to build a 70) . I missed out on the 51 Fleetlines and so will be looking to build those as well as get some resin 51's in other body styles. I'd like to also build a Christine 1958 Plymouth. I've been into model cars before and watch several youtube channels but I just never seem to stick with it enough to improve. I can look over ones I've started in the past and see where I could have done better so I guess that's progress.
  15. Started on a Cuda, but was immediately disappointed with the model quality, so I shelved that for this model. Decided to go with a metallic grape, with a white roof. Not breaking the creative meter, but my apprenticeship must continue before I start modding builds. I imagine I'll be heavy modding whenever I get a 3d printer. I finally found an affordable printer capable of 1/24 scale.
  16. First up, started back in 2003 or so, painted in short cuts "Iris," I'm trying out the red window glass from the new release in it. What do you think? Next, remember when this was a new release? Well, that is when I started this one! I lowered the rear suspension by trimming the mounting tabs and then cutting a hole in the floor above the rear axle so the pumpkin could set lower. It is still not as low as the front but it will work for me. Tires are from the new issue 55 Cameo while it's sporting a set of AMT 64 Chevrolet SS hubcaps. It's truly a period piece because I am using the 63 Mercury grill in it as well. Last, but not least, the "retro rod" build. Engine is from the Revell 57 150 kit with the standard shift. Thanks for looking, all comments welcomed.
  17. Painted Tamiya pure white and TS-44 Bright blue, this was supposed to be a rebuild of an older one. The older one is still soaking in the paint remover so I decided to start a new one. The engine is from the original issue of the 57 kit while the twin 4-bbl intake and valve covers are from the new tool AMY 57. That's it for now, thanks for looking!
  18. hi everybody here is some in progress pics of my Chevy. it is the latest release of the somewhat new tool bel air from AMT. I am surprised by the level of detail this kit has. It includes spark plug wires and a firing order diagram it also has some bare metal foil and a full sheet of photo etch witch has the aluminum side panel inserts and all of the badges the one thing I don't like isthat it has plastic inserts for the white wall tires
  19. Its finally finished. My kit bashed, garage sale special, franken-chev is now officially under glass!! Thanks to all the help and support I got on this kit! Please excuse the saturated pictures, my phone not the best.
  20. The newbie here... OK typos aside, this thing is for sure... A 1/16 scale kit. This is my WIP 1957 Chevy Nomad garage sale special. It began its life as a incomplete model, but soon became something that I can tick my Chevy and Chrysler friends off. The simple reason on why I put a 1969 General Lee Hemi in it, is because... why not. The Dodge began its life as a complete model, though after some time it got somewhat destroyed. My hopes are to give the 57 "Ch-emi" the look of a rat rod, on top of the look of an old school street rod. Neat things done: Lowered car, put in a Hemi, roll cage, side exhaust, fuel lines, break lines, ignition wires, and cut out firewall. Neat things to be done: Transmission, electrical wires, finish model.
  21. I know I’ve said this before but this will be one of the last salvage builds I do from decommissioned builds I’ve done. I was just experimenting with stuff and decided to start on this
  22. I recently got a few older Revell 57 Chevy Nomad kits and these parts were in with one of the kits. There was also a 59 ElCamino bumper. I think maybe the 3 wheels & tires are from the Elky? They are Firestone Supremes. I have no idea what the rear end or engine/partial frame are from. Thanks for any help.
  23. I'm going to cut up and create a promod out of my prostreet chevelle. This is the first time I'm going to make a complete promod.
