Started Spring 2006 I’m calling it done. (Finished 6/30/22) It was built to represent the Chrysler New Yorker St. Regis that my dad had restored. It’s painted in the correct cloud white over desert rose. I used Testors classic black to complete the tri-tone color. Dad’s Chrysler I started with a built model I got off EBay and a reissued customizing kit. It was a fight all the way and I’m not at all pleased with the outcome. When I started this project I thought it would be a breeze to paint since the multi-piece body came together along the chrome. I should have been able to paint each piece separately and then assemble it. The poor fit of the parts where the rear deck, side panels and roof, especially on the right side, came together made it necessary to assemble body first and smooth out the seems. Foiling the chrome was also a challenge working along the seems. It’s definitely not my best work. I did add the factory air conditioner that’s located under the package shelf. I scratch built the center vent. The MoPar master parts book indicated that there is a vent on either side as well. The illustrations in the parts book looked like speaker grills so that’s what I used. 😉 My dad’s AC worked very well and was really appreciated in Roswell, NM!The engine bay was well represented for the era. I goofed here. The valve covers should have been gold. I wanted the herringbone pattern on seats to stand out so I scraped the paint off after painting them white. This was tedious and, as you can see, the result isn’t perfect. The wheel covers, grille, bumpers, and taillights were stripped and painted with Alcad. Thanks for looking. Comments welcome.

Came out looking great. It's a nice kit.

Before I start the next round of builds I took some shots of finished models. The first is the Hudson - I saw some versions in Scale Auto Enthusiast and liked this color combo. The next is the Chrysler 300. I had to paint that with Krylon to get the right color. Difficult to work with and next time out I would do the scribe lines deeper. Then finally the Tim Flock Racer. All relatively stock with some aftermarket. The last shot are my plans for the Winter

Here's an '80's flash-back! I originally built this pro-street Johan '62 Chrysler 300 back in '86. I recently pulled it out of my showcase to do some repair work and upgrade it. Gotta love the '80's. There was a lot of questionable automotive styling trends applied to this model. I wonder what today's hot rodding trends are that we will shake our heads at in the future. These are just Fantastic.......

First one done for this year. This went a little better then the Cuda even if i made many mistakes and arent too happy about it. What is done is i bashed a AMT Viper coupe for suspension,engine,transmission,brake booster and engine managment. The rear back up lights was made out of clear parts three,inspired by two other builders on this forum. The plenum and intake is from Revell (Thank you evilbay lol). The steelies are from a member on here,dont remember hes name but has ebay store. The dog dish are from Missing Link and are great. Paint is tamiya,dip stick is home made,alternator wire is just wire lol. Heater hoses are wire isolation,radiator hose is scale production,the hose clamps are Top Studio. Exhaust is modified Cuda AAR. I regret having some blackwash on the engine,because now it looks dirty. Also the rear window is a joke. Anyway,thanks all for the tip and suggestions in the WIP. So i started one more kit (dont ask why lol) and some ideas popped in as i went along. I`m pretty sure it`s been done before,but it is a first time for me trying to scratch build things as frames and modify the body. The donor is the Dodge Viper GTS from AMT. Only thing left of the original frame is the mid section. I also modified the firewall to get engine enough backwards so it went clear of steering components. This again gives a lot of room in front of the engine and in real life,nice weight distribution. Well,here are some progress. Comments are welcome.

I think this was a re-issue of a 1959 kit and it sure showed its age. I've never seen so much flash or so many sink-holes. Every panel needed filling, all four tyres had huge craters in the sidewalls. I must admit, this was a real challenge to complete. I had to use clamps and epoxy to get the chassis onto the floorpan and do a lot of brutal trimming to get the interior to fit. I used acetate for the windows, the rear being slightly tinted. i hand painted the whitewalls and scratchbuilt the alternator and oil filler tube. I nearly gave up and it made me question my ability as a model-builder, but here it is....... Done!! thanks for looking

Fantastic kit -- I can't recommend it highly enough. The engineering is brilliantly thought through, the fit is exemplary, and the detail is great. Finished in Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red straight out of the can. Vallejo acrylics for the inside. bestest, M.

A bit of a departure from my normal European exotics, but I heard so many good things about this kit that I had to give it a try. I don't generally like chrome-laden barges, but this is a genuinely cool car, IMHO... The parts, detail and engineering in this kit are superb, as many have mentioned before me. I had the body painted in Tamiya Italian Red already, just waiting a final polish. The rest makes speedy progress easy. No clear coat, just polished paint. I think it gives a nicely realistic sheen. Lots of work to do on BMFing the chrome, and then some more clean-up to get rid of the glue residue that always seems to be left behind! When people say in reviews "The engine is almost a kit in itself", I usually say "yeah, right..." to myself. But in this case it really is. I'm not sure why it was necessary to add detailed valve rockers inside the heads, but I'm not complaining. There are a few areas where the fit is not entirely clear (why ARE there eight holes in the joining surface of the two parts of the carburettor?), and the instructions would really benefit from a couple more angles on the pictures of the engine... The seats benefit from a gentle wash and drybrush -- they really are benches! The dash with some detail painting, BMF and decals. Looks OK, even at this range. Nicely moulded wheels, with a wash to pop the wires out. The printed whitewalls on mine were off centre and shiny, so I matt varnished them and filled them out with some Vallejo Off White. Maybe the white shouldn't go all the way to the raised lip, but at least two of the tyres had the printing nearly touching it at one side, so absent a way of removing the paint, I just chose the easy way out and filled the whole sunken section. The completed cabin. The steering wheel is a little chunky (and seems a bit over-large. I can't believe any 1/24th scale guy could get his legs under it... and it's way back in his belly, too...) But it does have nice, and accurate detail, which responds well to painting. The interior is probably a bit over-contrasty in this light, but once its all in side, I think it'll look nicely complex. By the way, if anyone knows what that thing on the rear "parcel shelf" is, and whether it should be silver or not, or have something in the recesses, I'd really love to know. Now on to building the chassis. bestest, M.

Good morning Buddies, today i present you my 1957 Chrysler 300 C Sportswagon based on the amt-kit (#38545), i only used the roof from a Jimmy Flintstone body while the quality and thickness was more bad than good. JF has some better stuff like this one i got! I scratchbuilt the interieur and the trunklid section. Lowering the suspension, some wiring in the enginebay, selfmade windows/BMF and Alclad for chromeparts as always completed this beauty in my view. On the licensplate the name of my beloved girlfriend who is the "designer" and gave me the concept for colors. i "only" was the builder to make her vision true ;-) Some pictures ...more coming up...
