I've been lucky enough to own two muscle cars in my life, a 1972 Chevelle and my current car, a 2015 Challenger. With the 2015 being styled after a 71 Challenger I have been wanting a good representation of a 71 R/T for awhile. Sadly, no one makes a 71 Challenger kit. I did a conversion a few years back, but I always felt like I could do better. I've been pretty low on money lately as my dad was in the hospital, (plus I wanted to get a few new kits) but I finally decided to pull the trigger on doing another conversion. During the process of building the model my father ended up passing away, so this build is dedicated to him. The resin conversion kit came from Hart's Parts. I've used them before and they're excellent conversions. The fit is great! The stripes are Keith Marks 71-74 Challenger decals I got off eBay. The kit itself is the newest version of the AMT 70 Challenger. It's not a great kit (see my previous post), but I was able to make a pretty descent conversion learning my lesson from the 70 Challenger I built a few weeks ago. Hello !. Finally completed except a few refinements to bring here and there is my 1971 Fleetwood, by Robert Burns's Too Many Projects resin kits. I wanted a rare but accurate color for her, so I went with this 1971's Primrose Firemist. As all Robert's kits come incomplete, the seats and hubcaps have been printed while the interior, dash, door panels and the chassis are scratchbuilt. A bit of body modifications were necessary since the kit is having a few proportions inaccuracies but overall this is again a fantastic model, and totally unique in that scale. ( not including TKM's old kits ). Hope you'll like her. Thanks for watching.

Had the kit for a few weeks, but didn't have a chance to work on it much. Finally got it finished Tuesday night. The kit is great, but there's a few minor issues. Still it came out working great! Bought another one to paint in green after seeing the other 71 posted on here. I loved that color. Hi ! Long time I've posted a Cadillac on the forum. Here is the Robert Burns's TMP 1971 Cadillac kit finally done. These kits don't come complete so it takes a long time to fully assemble one, with scratch built parts and donors. I have dressed her up with an accurate 1971 Adriatic Turqouise Metallic. A friend of mine printed the correct hubcaps and seats. I have created the interior door panels and molded-converted a 1971 JoHan Dash. Chassis is from JoHan's Caddy but also required lots of work to fit with the body. Robert's kits are a dream come true for unprecedented models in that scale. Cadillac lovers, they are far from easy to built but don't let them go....

Liked the new Revell kit so much I bought another one. The American kits differ from the European kits a bit. No color instruction sheet and a few less decals. Still, I love this kit! The new 1971 Olds 442 kit from Revell Germany. I love the kit and have nothing bad to say about it. It's easy to build and comes out nice. The German kits also have color instructions which is nice. I got a nice pre-order discount which helped my pocket a lot. The first model car I ever tried to make when I began building as an adult was the Revell 1971 Cuda kit. I made it in Plum Crazy Purple, not really knowing what I was doing yet. It came out alright, but I always felt like I could have done better. I got this kit as a Christmas present and set out to make a good looking build. I think it looks great in Sublime. I recently followed a Jo-Han Mercury Comet on eBay ; and , I noticed that it was a 2-in-1 , which I've never seen before ! I'm aware of the Maverick 2-in-1 kit , but wasn't aware of its Mercury counterpart . Is this a rare kit ? Was it a mid-year tooling change ( think : MPC 1971 Duster and 1971 Demon 340 --- the latter being a c.Spring 1971 intro ) ? From the photos , I was able to ascertain : - Stock inline six engine / manual trans - Stock wheel covers - Moulded-in bench seat (front and rear ) - Plastic Good Year wrinkle-wall slicks - Cragar S/S wheels - BOSS 429 in Pro Stock livery - Chassis has moulded-on single exhaust Did anyone here win the bid ? I'd love to build a stock 1971 Mercury Comet !

I'm back! At least for a few posts. So, a quick update on my situation: I have not bought a home yet, but I have moved out of my old place and into a cheaper place that's just as nice. I'm still looking into a home and talking things over with a lender. I didn't want to start any builds until I moved into a more permanent home, but they've been piling up and it's going to take awhile to get them all built. So, I decided to build a few and save the boxes to make sure they don't get damaged when i do finally move. So...........here is my first of the new year. It's a 1971 Trans Am based on the Revell model of a 1970. It's a very nice model and I highly recommend it. I’ve always admired the workmanship that goes into low riders. Especially the multi layered paint jobs. There’s a guy that shows his models at our local LIARS show and the NNL East. His work is fantastic and always inspires me. After seeing his work a couple weeks ago I’ve decided to dip my toe into the water and give it a try. I’ll be converting the 70 Monte Carlo into a 1971. I don’t know if I’m going to do a multi color paint job or maybe a two-tone. But I worked tonight on the ride height. I wanted it Looooooooow!

This model I am very proud of. I absolutely love the Sub-Lime green paint. It says MOPAR, all the way. The rims are from the kit but I used the 5-holers, intended for the rear, on the front. I widened the rear rims by sanding out the centers of a set of ConvoPros and adding them to the original front rims to make them deep dish. I actually had to narrow the rear tires slightly to get them to fit in the quarter panels. What I like the most is I nailed the stance perfectly. The grille was meticulously hand painted and this is the second model I have ever BMF’d. I tried using the black, Hemi “billboard” decals from the kit which are correct for 1971, but I did not like them the minute they were laid. Instead I had Keith Marks make me up a set of 1/24th 1970 “hockey stick” stripes which I think looks a whole lot better. The interior was painted semi-gloss by spraying Testors Glosscoat over Testors flat black. I duplicates the texture and sheen of vinyl. When the head lights were installed, they looked like binoculars. I ended up setting back a tad to get them to look correct. If I ever win the lottery, I would buy a real one.

This model was a difficult endeavor. The body was a resin copy that had a few of resin's typical issues, namely warping and thickness variances. It also was cast without an engine compartment or cowl. I used an AMT Yankee Challenge kit as a donor. With a lot of trimming, most all of the parts fit together. One of the challenges was having no grille or headlight frames. The 1970 parts are way too different to use so, I made them from scratch. The "floating" grille sections turned out so-so, but they do make it look like a 71 at least. The tail lights were drop in with minor trimming. (I think) the fake side scoops were sourced from Drag City Casting. The rear "Go Wing" came from an AMT 71 Duster Kit. The Hemi came from one of my Challenger kits or parts box (it has been a long time). The R/T stripes came from an ebay vendor. Too bad the artwork for the letters was slanted WRONG on the drivers side. (no way to fix it either). I would normally detail paint the rally wheels but after all the other battles, I just wasn't up to it. The first shaker hood I painted and decaled was warped so I tried to fix it with heat. BAD move. I turned it into a potato chip. Fortunately Will, from DPMCC, came to my rescue and sent me a replacement. THANKS WILL!

I'm building the c.2000 Street Machine version of the ol' Monogram 1971 'Cuda for my girlfriend . Painted FM3 Moulin Rouge (came out quite nice) with SRX9 interior . I applied the white Billboard decals ; approached it with much apprehension due to the age of the decals . I test-ran the "HEMI" windscreen banner on a piece of painted scrap plastic ; came out nicely ( too bad that the China-made decals don't last for 20 years ! ) , even with the setting solution . Then I applied the V6W stripes ( a tiny bit of hand soap and water on the body ; warm water to release the decals ) then brushed them with the setting solution , and then walked-away ( hahaha ) . They set impressively well , especially given their age . However , some wrinkles did develop (around the door handles and near the wheel well lip) , and I want to rectify the wrinkles : Should I : * Slice the wrinkles with a new , sharp #11 * Brush more setting solution * Hope for the best Please share your advice / experiences . Been wanting one for the collection. Found resin parts from Hart's parts and found some stripes on ebay. Came out alright. The grill is a little warped and the rear end isn't exactly correct, but it does look pretty good for what it is. I have Monogram's '70 Buick GSX kit, and I'd like to build a '71 GS convertible. I ordered a resin convertible body from Mill City Replicas. The only other real differences between the years are the bumpers and the grill. --> Does anyone know if there is a '71 version of the bumpers and grill out there that I can use? Someone making them in resin or something? If not, I'll have to fabricate them. Below are pictures of the front and rear of the 1971 GS, which is slightly different from '70, the Monogram 1970 kit, and the resin convertible body I ordered.

Finished these two up in the last week. Two giant pains in the rear in regards to decals, the Monte Carlo's fell apart on the touch so had to decal bond the hell out of it and the Duster decals turned milky yellow. The color on the Duster is apparently a regular RAL standard color(yellow green), thank God it came out as nice and close to the hi-impact colors. -
Been working on it all week. Came out pretty good. Had a bit of trouble with the decals. It was an old kit and they were hard to slide on. Then I accidentally tore the rear decal trying to remove some debris from the model before he clear coat dried.

Hi there ! I've built my first kit from Moebius models, and that was very cool ! Here is my last creation, a rusty farm truck. This is a 1971 Ford F100 Ranger XLT, 1/25 scale. The truck is built as a rusty farm truck. The owner got this Ford since 1979, and still drive it. It has a lot of rust on the body, but runs good ! The passenger door has been replaced, by a standard F100 door, there are no chrome moldings. The body is dirty and rusty. Two hubcaps are missing, so the owner has put the two other ones on the same side. If we take a look on the interior, we could see a mexican cover on the bench : -
Revell 1/24 '71 HEMI® 'Cuda Hardtop I saw this model at my local drug store and it was on sale, so I got it. This is a picture of the painted body sitting on the frame: I put some 19" rims with low profile tires on it, I think they look much better than the stock ones that come with the kit I need to do a little detail work with the black strip, but i really like it on the lime green. and of course The Hemi: I will try to post more as it get it done.

Since i have been waiting for parts for my other projects and got overwhelmed by boredom i started a new kit. It`s the Nash Bridges Cuda from Revell. I`m not sure why but yellow was never a favorite color of mine,it kinda mess up the lines of cars and make chrome "disappear". So i went for a blue metallic,since it`s not meant to look like any factory option or 100% stock i thought no harm would be done except for maby anoying the purist. This is my first time with BMF,and omg what a nightmare and the result there after (more to do) I want to keep this clean and simple,and got steelies with dogdish in the same color as the car. Not sure how to lower it but i`m working on it. Engine will be stock,and i thought i give it a shot on try wire it for the first time,and i hope it`s a little more easy then this BMF stuff. Also it will get white interiour and white hemi decals on rear panels. Hopefully it will look good. Comments are welcome. Here are some crappy pics,only have my phone so.
