Scale I Build

  1. Got this a couple months ago. Kit was missing the decals. It's not a bad kit, but there were a few fit issues with the chassis and exhaust. SAM_1355 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr SAM_1356 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr
  2. HI everyone!🙂 this is my 1/24 hasegawa fairlady 240Z. I add some detail and change the wheels..the body color is mix by myself.. a very nice kit to build hope you guys like it!😄 and here is the video build if you are interested:🙂
  3. I haven't been around much due to finishing this bad boy up to get it entered in the 2020 SEMA Battle of the Builders.... virtually... (stupid Covid) This has been around a 12 year project for my dad and I. I took ownership in 2017 from my dads friend, who had commissioned us to build the car. At that time the car was running and driving with the LS, but in primer to shake it out. Upon me buying the car, we stripped it down completely and put it on a rotisserie for a full paint and rebuild. Just finished up the last parts last Sunday, and had a professional photo/video shoot last Wednesday. The detail shots below show the danger of Model Car guys building 1:1 scale cars..?? 4. 2015 issue of Revell BRE Datsun 240z racer. On top of having some warped spots (that were partially fixed without breaking another hood or set of glass into two), most parts needed massaging, hollowing, and trimming to lay in place. Main offender was the dashboard being too tall and making the body look like a lift up funny car. That and the firewall needed to be trimmed to get the body to frame/interior fit in line. It's not perfect, but acceptable considering the warping didn't help a kinda messy 70s era Revell kit. Following modifications were made: Upgraded wheels/tires + brakes from an Aoshima lightsports series MX5 Miata. Wheels were painted Rustoluem Metallics Pure Gold Custom built twin turbo and FI system using Tamiya Toyota Supra 2Jz header Custom built intercooler Frame/interior paint is Rustoluem Universal Aluminum. Exterior is an unknown (can had no label) brand of Satan Black. I figured this color combo would replicate a stealth jet lightweight racer design.
  5. Hey guys, another large scale 1:12 Tamiya Datsun on the work bench. This one is actually a fantasy build of one of Datsun's rare cars, the Z432. The name was derived from the engine specs, 4 valve, 3 carburetor and 2 camshafts. It was a 2 litre inline 6 cylinder. Started with a Safari edition for this one as it has the standard body without the longer G-nose. I will use parts of a 240ZG kit for interior bits like seats and dash. Only addition will be the ZG over-fenders, because I like 'em. As the majority of the work is going to be around the motor, I chose to start there. The 2 litre and 2.4 litre are about as different as chalk and cheese, so I started by deleting ALL the molded in details from the kit 2400 motor, then started to add detail to resemble the smaller 2000 motor.. This motor also slants the opposite direction so the sump will also need to be altered. New water passage along the top edge of the block. Early prototype of the water pump. Continues.....
  6. I tried to speed assemble this, I've seen where guys knock out a model to fill a contest category that is empty, how do they do it? I also wanted to paint something with the zinc chromate primer, and Rustoleum primer instead of the cliche flat black. I'm also spoiled with Tamiya, Fujimi, and now Aoshima quality. Instead of using up my allotment for pictures, showing my Fakebook post:
  7. Well here she is guys. This kit taught me so much about patience. Nothing fit correctly. But I stayed with it and while she is not perfect by any means, I am very happy. Only things I did were, full body smooth out, as a race car doesn't have marker lights and what not, and I left off the spoiler because 240Z should not have them. Also went with the yellow headlights as a tribute to the racing class and JDM. Please let me know what you guys think! Thanks.
  8. Two of Japan's finest ever sports cars, both products of their era, both designed by the same guy, Albrecht Goertz. The 2000GT was a Yamaha proposal which Nissan turned down, and Toyota didn't. The Z-car is Datsun through and through... What a lovely car, and what a great kit... bestest, M.
