  1. Just finished this up. While it looks red in the pics it is actually Tamiya Bright Orange and White. Seats are the buckets from the AMT '57 Ford kit. Stacks are from the Monogram 70 Mustang Boss. Decals are a mix from several kits. Wheels are from the AMT '56 Ford and tires are AMT parts pack as well as parts bin finds.
  2. The 1/25 Revell '57 Ford Sedan Gasser kit seems to have slipped through the cracks, so now it has its own dedicated topic. It was mentioned (hunted at, more accurately) by Tim Boyd here...: ....that this (and it looks like another or a slightly different) variant had been planned, but never released, until now. Here are some images of the completed box stock model, courtesy of the Revell website: Chris/hpiguy has a video review, too:
  3. ...........Just thought I would mention that an ebay seller has just listed the new reissues of the VW superbug gasser and 57 Ford some of us were waiting for.....chance's are more seller's will have their supply in the next day or two as well..........thought I'd just mention for those interested......the Ace......
  4. Hey all, I just built this Revell 57 Ford Del Rio wagon with the police car option. Paint is Rustoleum hunter green, and the white is white primer with wet look clear sprayed over it. I bought a resin sheriff to stand beside it. He's talking to the folks at Dad's garage in the photos - looking for those punk kids and their noisy hot rods! The kit is nice to build - went together well. I added a license plate after the photos were shot. Comments are welcome.
  5. I have the Revell '57 Del Rio kit which includes the complete McCuloch Blower from the Fairlane kit as well. Does anyone have the assembly instructions for the blower to add to the Del Rio?
  6. This one was started from the original kit when Revell first released it. I originally built the stock 4 bbl engine for it and was really impressed with how the engine looked when built. But then I went to paint it, and the original body reacted badly to the paint. After trying numerous things to get the body cleaned up I stuck it in a box until I could get a replacement body. A replacement body came a few months later in the form of the Fireball Roberts race car. I was interested in the body & supercharged engine and the race car was cheaper than the stock Tudor kit anyway :-) BTW, the original engine from the Revell kit fits really well inside the engine compartment of the AMT 57 Fairlane 500 kit. All that needs to be done is a little trimming on the transmission mount to get it to fit. I removed the chrome plating from the supercharger and painted it Tamiya bright aluminum. I really like the look of this engine. I painted the model Tamiya TS-15 blue and then detailed the interior for a stock look. I did deviate a bit from stock by painting the steering column & wheel Tamiya Light gunmetal instead of black. I discovered the Revell "Ford" hubcap decals will fit great on the AMT full wheel covers that I'm using on this build. I still need to paint the white lines on these hubcaps, like I did on my AMT build (still in progress BTW). Of course I picked this one up a month or so ago and started it as well. For the wagon I'm saving the supercharger setup and instead using the 2-4bbl intake from the original Tudor kit. I have an AMT Fairlane 500 steering wheel for it and I am debating between chrome reverse wheels or full wheel covers. Well, that's it for now, look for some updates later when I get some BMF on these bodies and some pictures taken of the Del Rio.
  7. Finally getting the chance to start posting again. I still need to get a good engine shot, but at least it's a start. This is the Revell 57 Ford kit. It's pretty awesome, overall. Everything went together like a charm. I did a two-tone paint job; Ford Cardinal Red by Duplicolor, topped with Testor's Classic White. I thought about making it a Fire Chief car after the paint came out, but it still looks pretty nice as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for looking, and please leave some comments/suggestions.
