Scale I Build

  1. As I have posted in my 1:12 Matra MS11 F1 build thread, I have been in a bit of a slump lately. I thought I would try an airplane build just to change things up a bit and hopefully get some of my modeler's mojo back. It didn't really work. I guess it did get me back to the bench but I still struggled. Anyhow, here she is. Only the 3rd airplane I've ever built and really, only the 2nd plane I've built in this stage of my life.
  2. To quote Monty Python: "And now for something completely different." I'm not an airplane builder, this is only the 3rd one that I have built. I participated in a FB group 1 week challenge build. The idea being to start and complete a model in one week with no stress about adding tons of detail and/or correcting every little flaw. At least that is how I took it. I did not make the one week deadline and actually took two weeks. My first week was blown up by life getting in the way. I chose the Academy 1:72 scale kit due to the low parts count and the fact that I could paint it one solid color, and a glossy one at that. I only used what I had on hand. Unfortunately, I did not have the correct shade of blue for my plane but it was close. I also didn't have the exact color for the interior. I did find a formula to mix a couple of Tamiya XF colors to get close to what I needed. This plane represents the one flown by Capt. Phillip C. DeLong in 1945. One heck of a pilot and one heck of a machine!
  3. Wait... nobody has built this kit? It's been calling me from the stash, "build me, I'm an easy curbside, don't even think about putting an engine, transaxle, suspension in because you'll never finish." I searched and found nothing.
  4. Finished this one a few months back. It is academy's hyundai santa fe. Nicely detailed curbside kit, but there was quite a few fitment issues. Did what I could with the body to chassis fit but still not perfect. Painted with tamiya and detailed with Vallejo paints. I love odd ball models so this fits on the shelf perfectly.
  5. Here’s my build of Academy’s 1975 Hyundai Pony. My daily driver is a 2020 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid, so when I discovered this kit I absolutely had to paint it to match my 1:1 car! The kit is designed to assemble without any painting so I left everything but the body and seats/door cards in bare plastic. I did zero prep work to the body, just a coat of Tamiya Fine gray primer and two coats of TS-13 Gloss Aluminum. Seats and door cards are just Tamiya Fine Gray primer. This was a super fun quick build, everything fit perfectly with zero flash or fiddling. Hyundai sure has come a long way in the past 45+ years!
  6. Hello friends Here I bring you one of the main fighters that the United States used in the Second World War. It is the P-47 Thunderbolt in its long-range N version. It is made of the brand Academy at 1/48 scale. https://youtu.be/9ly3cgH2VgU Greetings and I hope you like it
  7. Hello friends I certainly could not miss this tank in my collection, in my opinion one of the best currently. Over the years it has been updated, hence its four versions that have demonstrated their capabilities on the ground. I wanted to place the model on a platform simulating an arid terrain where it has usually been its battlefield. https://youtu.be/GhRKlpQ7iOQ Greetings and I hope you like mates
  8. Hello partners Model F / A-18C Hornet, scale model 1/32 scale Academy. The model is on a surface that simulates the deck of an aircraft carrier. https://youtu.be/oG7yjxOB9Xc A greeting and I hope you like it
  9. This was a really simple kit from Academy. It's not really detailed, but builds into a nice but basic model. No engine detail. It's not really finished, the lenses need to be added, but they are terrible, they look like goggles & distort the lights underneath, so I've going to do something with them later. For now, it's on display! There is a WIP post in the appropriate place if you're interested... Comments welcome.
