Scale I Build

Found 9 results

  1. I did this one about 4 months ago me thinks. It's a movie car from the fast and furious collection by Revell. This was all about the decals. I ditched the stock carbon fiber for some scale carbon fiber decals. I used Tamiya paints and POL 2 part auto clear. Got some etched hood pins. Fun build.
  2. If you wanted to build the cars featured in the film Ford vs. Ferrari, what are the suitable kits? I understand the Ferrari 330 P4 is incorrect for the year depicted, and that's the only kit in my stash that could qualify. ? I know there is a variety of GT40 kits available, help us out with that choice. The Squire woodie would certainly qualify. Plenty of Shelby Cobras and the Daytona Coupe, my question is, was the 427 developed yet? I've already built the black sheep IMC J-car, not correctly depicted in the movie. Thought it would be fun to plot a future project.
  3. This looks like it could be really good entertainment: A bunch of enthusiasts getting together to turn outlaw road racing into the first sanctioned motoring event in 60 years... ...and please NO POLITICS!!! bestest, M.
  4. This is the Van from the movie "Short Circuit", a cute movie from the 80s about an errant robot that escapes its creators and helps a young woman find love. The Van is a Chevy "Candy Van" kit from AMT with GMC grille and scratchbuilt box cargo area. The decals are exclusive to Pattos Place. Special thanks to Doobie for the GMC grille. The rims and tires are from scene unlimited. You can catch up on the build here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/103932-gmc-box-truck/
  5. In the movie, Sean looses his car, so uses his dad's mustang shell and his silvia engine to create this drift racer. AMT's old 67 mustang is a nicely molded kit, but the fit issues are substantially bad. The rims were way oversized and incorrect, so it's now running viper rims and tires. I painted the stripes rather than using the decals. other than that. it's all box stock. It's pictured with my DK's nissan.
  6. Hi guys, i have just started a new proyect. Its the well known Mercury from the movie COBRA I will use the Mercury from Revell with some modifications in the body, bumpers, etc. Thanks for your feedback and suggestions.
  7. Hey guys, this here is my second build of the year and it's a replica of Dom's Charger from Fast Five. It's being built for the Fast and Furious cbp. Starting out as a Revell 69' Charger it's going to be re worked to look like the 70' charger. Here's the start, small update and end result. First order of business is moving the front reflectors back a bit. Here is what the end result will look like, give or take. Thanks for looking more updates to come.
  8. Here's Dom's 70' Charger from the movie Fast Five. Built for the Fast and Furious tribute build to go along side Brian's 72' Skyline also from Fast Five. Built as close as I can to the one seen in the movie. It started out as a Revell 69' Charger, the w.i.p is here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=87233 if anyone is interested in seeing the building of it. The grille was made from scratch with styrene sheets layer over one another then sanded down to be mostly accurate. The wheels were modeled by me and printed by Shapeways. Most of the interior was also made from scratch covered with heat and air duct tape for the aluminum look. I'll try to get better pics of the interior a little later. Thank you for looking!
