So recently I have been on a muscle car kick, and have been purchasing some muscle car kits from The Big Four. I have found some inspiration for a couple of my builds from TV and music, particularly the 1969 Dodge Charger R/T from The Dukes of Hazzard, and a planned 1964 Pontiac GTO from G.T.O. (1964) by Ronny and the Daytonas. Now, I know that there are lots of cars in media from many different eras (like the 1967 Mustang Fastback in Bullitt); but what really got me thinking were that cars sung about in the 1960s era car songs. Some I have figured out. Little Duce Coupe (1963) by the Beach Boys is about a 1932 Ford Coupe hot rod, but the song that got me thinking about this tonight was The Little Old Lady (from Pasadena) (1964) by Jan and Dean. (Yes, it was also performed by The Beach Boys). The lyric that sparked my interest is "But parked in a rickety old garage, Is a brand new shiny red Super-Stock Dodge". Now, if the song was written & released in the Spring of 1964, my question to the Forum is: "What is the 1964 Super-Stock Dodge they are singing about? Could it be a Charger?" Anyway, see what happens when you have a long drive? Interesting bit of trivia: the B-side to Jan and Dean's The Little Old Lady (from Pasadena) is My Mighty G.T.O.
