Dodge L-700 with stake body and crane.

Gator, do you still believe that crane is too big? It sure has some heft to it.

To be brutally honest. Yes!! I think the KFS crane is too big. I think the Effer Crane from the Italeri parts kit would be a better fit.

But not to take away from the work you are doing here. The crane kit looks great. And you are doing a nice neat job on it! Personally I would put it on a little heavier duty truck myself. Like a Ford C-cab with 6X6 drive and a flatbed and the crane!! :D :D :rolleyes:

Just ordered the Effer crane. This forum is expensive. Everytime I see something I run out & order it.

Pat,

You are doing a super clean build on the KFS crane. And I am sure you will put it on something a little bit bigger and more appropriate!

The Effer crane is not a bad kit. A little planning is required ie painting etc. But i know for me. It works better on the Dodge.

As for the Forums being expensive???? lol But yes I do agree to an extent. My problem with the Forums is I spend more time on them then I do at the workbench! That is why I bowed out of a couple, and there are a couple more I only check weekly. They are rather slow anyway.

I hope to have my workbench somewhat set up very soon.

The KFS crane may very well end up on one of the Paystars I just got. Back to the Dodge, I find the wheels slightly larger than the tire openings. Would warming up the tires help slip them on?

If I remember correctly. I have just forced the tires onto the rims on any of the builds of kits from that company. yes you might try warming the tire up a bit.

but then they may be too hot to handle. You could also try putting the rims in the freezer?? but they might become too brittle?? If your wheels are already n[ainted you might try some virgin coconut oil or something organic. Once the tires are on. You can wash them in warm soapy water.

Oh and I really like the idea of the KFS crane on a paystar!

Made some adapters for the V10 headers to round pipe.

Started fabricating some coil packs. When working with things smaller than a toothpick, a fellow's age comes to the surface.

Added the wheels. Will use the V10's own rad with electric fans as well as the Viper type air intake. Started on the plug boots. I see I have some straightening to do.

If you look at the last picture in the previous post, this engine has this type of coil, however it has only the four post one. IO think making a six post one like this will be easier.

Swapped the Viper six-speed for the L-700 five-speed. added the manifolds and some wash detail to the engine.

Found out that the type of coil pack in the previous post is a Viper application and the type I had started is from the Ram V-. So I finished those of that type I had begun earlier.

Put the base of the crane together with masking tape and tried it on for size. It is a better fit all right. It still doesn't clear the tank which will have to be moved further back a bit. Had to notch a crossmenber to clear the transmission, but it should work OK.
