After helping so many kids build their cars, I decided to build one for myself. In a box of old model car wheels, I found an original set of pinewood wheels from the 50s so I built my pinewood car as a Soapbox Derby car just to be different. Sixties Sam Posted July 25, 2015 Share Posted July 25, 2015 Very cool racer, Gary. I have a set of those wheels on my Pinewood car from 1960. It won the first Pinewood Derby held in our town back then. I've taken it to a couple recent derbies to show the kids. They get a kick out of seeing it. Here's a pic.
