Z28
Hey guys, looking for some dimensions of the Lakewood Competition "slapper" Traction bars that were popular in the 60's & 70's on street/strip cars. I can find a ton of pictures but no spec's (length, width, height, etc.). Looking to build a set for my 1/12 scale 69 Camaro project. Any help will be much appreciated.Thanks....Marty
kalbert
I think most of them are 2x2 or 2x3 tube. The length is usually as long as needed to for the snubber to hit right on the front eye of the spring. Also make sure they are above the scrub line! Petetrucker07
The ones I have on my car are 2x3 tubing. They roughly 26 inches long. The angle iron that the u-bolts go through to mount the bars are 2 1/2 inches wide at the widest part. The front and rear pieces of angle are roughly 12 inches apart. I added a piece of flat stock about 2 inches from the snubbed to "load" the bars. Hope this helps.
