72 Charger
Hi Im watching a Revell / AMT 1956 Chrysler New Yorker on Ebay . I just wanted to know if anyone could clarify the Scale of this kit . It looks 1/25th but the measurements given on the listing say it is 2 1/4 inch wide ? This leads me to think that it is 1/32 . Can anyone help before I go and waist my money bidding on itThanks
Ramfins59
Dave I think that Chrysler is a 1/32 scale kit and it has a multi piece body. I'd go with the Moebius '56 Chrysler kit if I were you.BTW Dave, I've been trying to send you a PM for a couple of days and it's telling me that you can't receive messages. Either there is a problem, or, you need to delete a bunch of your old messages because you're only allowed to keep so many... It's like your mailbox is full. Ace-Garageguy
Richard's right...definitely 1/32. When I first got back in the hobby in '05 or so, I got all excited seeing some of the smaller scale kits of '50s iron, and assuming they were 1/25. There IS an old Revell 1/25 '57 Caddy... ...but the '55 is in the 1/32 line too... Edited August 30, 2015 by Ace-Garageguy
ChrisBcritter
Yes, it's 1/32. The originals were molded in pale green. The reissued version is molded in black and is listed as custom-only; however the only parts needed to change it back to stock are the grille (it was modified with a 1951 Meteor insert) and the wheelcovers (they used the stock '56 Mercury wheelcovers for the custom). I've been trying to get a basketcase original for the stock parts with the idea of casting a few extra sets; I'm surprised someone hasn't done this already. Edsel-Dan
I have 3 each of the 56 Chrysler kit2 of the Stock Original's included the Box.I am Surprised Rev/AMT got all the parts in those Tiny boxes!!!!!!!It is BARELY as large as the kit builds, but Not tall (thick) enough toput a Built one in!!!!!Sadly, I only have 1 set of the 3 Figures out of 3 otherwise complete Stock 56 Chrysler's!!None were included in the Customized version I can offer the grill & hubcaps for resin casting.(offered before, but No one took me up on it) I think I have at least one of ALL the 56's versions of these kitsThey were First issued as 55's!!!!!!Surprising that the Ford Sunliner was re-tooled to Stock before being re-issuein the SSP program, while the Chrysler was Left Custom!!!Evidently the Cadillac & Lincoln Mark were never Customized!!.I Do wish they would re-issue the Buick & Mercury!!!!!!Those 2 always hit $40.oo PLUS when listed anymore!!!!!
