Junkman
Today I receiverised a packagisation. It was sent to me from Leningrad, which is in the Soviet Union, which the elderly among you might still know as "dem bleedin' commies". This was inside: The cabin is diecast, with an open cast grille: Russki sure learned quickly how to coax more hard currency out of a decadent Westerner: I bet this used to be classified: I bet this used to be top secret: Quite a number of the parts shown in the tree breakdown are surplus, i.e. intended for different versions. I bet this tells me to join the Party: The decals are a lot better than this photo suggests: But seriously, this is a very nice and highly detailed kit of a subject less known outside the former Eastern Block. The plastic is of extremely good quality and reminds me of the stuff model railways are made from.Everything is crisply moulded and there is very little clean up necessary.Considering the price of roughly $17 it's a very fair deal indeed. Crazy Ed
Looks to have plenty of Detail. Hope your eyesight is at least good and your magnifying glass is REALLY Clean! If I had received a package like that when I was stationed in Germany my clearance would have been pulled and I then would have spent several hours "chatting" to a few not so friendly folks from Security! The world has turned and things have changed.
Junkman
LOL, I bet!I already started building it and will open a thread in the appropriate section. The kit is as much a delight to make as the parts suggest.
Crazy Ed
I think I'll follow this build even though neither 1/43 nor Trucks are generally on my "watch list". There's just so many parts and the subject is so unusual. Also I want to see just how you wire the Engine!

Atmobil
Wow, where do I order that?I have for the past year and a half or so been playing a computergame called Spintires http://spintires.com/ and that got the truck you now have a model of aswell as atleast one of the ones in the brochure you got in it.http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/849218678921435352/70F7804763FC860A58F17981D5C37D337CABB644/
Junkman
I started playing Spintires because I got the model. Stumbled across the game when I did some research on the truck. I got mine from this seller: http://www.ebay.com/sch/faust_spb/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=However, he seems to be out of stock on this particular model, but he still has the dumper version: http://www.ebay.com/itm/KrAZ-256-B1-Dump-Truck-1977-Model-Unassembled-Kit-1-43-SSM1025KIT-/171749695600 But carmodels.ru still has it, albeit a tad more expensive: http://www.ebay.com/itm/KIT-KrAZ-257-in-1965-year-from-the-Start-Scale-Models-1-43-model-/171756221836
Atmobil
Thank you very much for the links. Strange that they are so cheap to buy. I will have to get some of these
Junkman
Strange that they are so cheap to buy.One could indeed wonder why some repops made from long since amortised American tooling that was shipped to China ages ago are so expensive in comparison. Atmobil
Yes, I guess that is another way of looking at it I noticed that several of the models can be bought in finished form and then for sums in the 80-90$ region. I guess there is a big saving in building it one self.
Edsel-Dan
I have NO way to buy from Russia!!If I need to Mail payment it would be a US Postal Money Order.Otherwise, I pay Cash at checkout!!! I have NO credit card, nor will I ever again use pay-the-bay/Preypal I have told the stiry before, but guess I need to again.I won 2 built models, 62 Thunderbird, & 72 Road Runner about 6-7 years ago.Friend paid with pay-the-bayOne MONTH after winning, I sent a message to the sellerONLY reply I would EVER get stated her husband had Just returned from Hospital, and would get them shipped to me shortly, as she had No idea about models.Another Month and still NO models I sent another message. This time NO replyI filed the claim, with evilbay & pay-the-bayWithin the next month My claim case was Close with NO action, and seller Closed their account Had I used Postal Money Order, I would have received either my Money back, the models, or BOTH!!!!!The seller would also have been charged with Mail fraud and Theft Too!!!!!Pay-The-Bay/preypal has NO way of enforcing that!!!!!And NO guarantee of refund, or purchase being sent!!!!! That is why I MUST find a US seller/Store that stocks these kits!!!!!
Junkman
Thanks God stuff like this doesn't seem to happen with professional Russian mailorder businesses.I also had a few dealings for rare obsolete tat with private sellers in Russia and other parts of Eastern Europe.People from those parts also bought things I had listed on Ebay.Never had an issue dealing with Easterners, which can't be said about Italians, btw.
