I'm likin' the look of it!!!!!!

I like the look of carbs and/or injectors on top.... Kind of hard for me to pick which is best until they're up there to see... That and it depends on which set up I try to use, it has to look right I guess.....

Two four barrel carbs like the ones in the Rat Roaster kit would work, or for a vintage look the four Strombergs like the ones on the Ed Roth Beatnik Bandit would be perfect. In fact the entire Oldsmobile engine from the Beatnik Bandit would make a great choice for a vintage street rod look.

I did think of cutting down a 6 carb intake

log and scratching a adapter for it.

That would look pretty tough on there. But

I think I will likely take the easy route and use

the 3 carb set up. I'm still breaking in my new

hands here, the feeling is so strange!

But I love all the helpful input!!  :D

   Hey Matt,

Yes it was getting to be an adventure in learning all

kinda new things!

Drinking through straws, turning pages with poster

tack stuff on fingers, having my wife opening jelly

jars for me.

So I had to give up pretty much everything I liked

for a very long time, and worse at the pre-surgery

months. Lost my job and a great many other things!

No extra funds for even mailing a package, or just

about anything.

I am very happy to say that I finally

have some things nailed down for me

to get going again on this build.

My big stalls were the motor choice,

and how to fill a couple big holes I

made in the body.

   - The one hole was the trunk

opening that I cut out.

And I have a new deck lid for

that problem.  ( Thanks Tom )

   - The motor choice going to

be a regular old 409.

   - Then the other biggie was

that I cut open the top and needed

a removable insert piece for that.

So first here is the motor-

Then I was making myself crazy trying

to form a part from a Ala Kart kit to fit in

the roof opening.

But just tonight I discovered a most

unlikely part that fit the curve of the

roof perfectly-

    It's a hood from a 1988 Dodge

Daytona!

Here is some pics of what I

was attempting to do with these

parts I mentioned.

   Building happy again,

Thanks Mark, and yes, sometimes it's

almost weird the things you can find to

work when needed!   B)<_<

I was pretty happy that the hood section

when cut down and trimmed fit quite well.

Some tweaking will be needed, but not

too bad over-all!  But it matches the curve

of the roof perfectly. Better once it's set in

the roof just a bit better.

     Thanks Tom,

I'm sure you will find a way to raise

the bar just a bit higher though.

Or raise the roof, as it were in this

case!

My plan is to run some welting on

the outside edge, and contrast paint

the part when done.

Wow about the hands, I hear ya a bit on that one, I had Carpal Tunnel surgery done thinking it was going to fix my aching drop everything hands only to find out after the fact that arhritis is setting in and that's what I'm dealing with now. I have to really watch what I'm picking up as it may end up on the floor without warning, my hands just relax and what ever is in my hands is on the floor... Sucks getting old I guess!!!

Thanks Richard and Kerry, I thought at first it was

going to be a weird place for louvers. But after I cut

it down to fit, I really liked it!

My next body related thingy I wanted to do was to

used the hood, grill shell, and grill from the '37 Ford

truck kit.

Well obviously it's way too wide for the cowl area

of the '30 coupe.

-So I cut off the the fender swoops at bottom sides.

-Took a pie shaped wedge out of the center of the

  hood to narrow it.

I will still have to fill the V shaped opening where

it meets the cowl. Then I'm going to angle the front

of the hood to make the grill shell lay back at steep

angle so it stretches the look out quite a bit.

Here's what I got so far-

Here is a crude mock up with the '37

Ford hood and grill shell.

(for anyone who is actually interested)

I'm hoping I can make this mud and grind

ordeal work out, and maybe look like a

model I won't throw away after all the

effort I put in to it!

A lot of what I'm attempting is all kinda

new to me.

Thanks Richard,  I figured some folks

like you might see some hope in this big

lump of styrene, resin, and mud!!

I guess I should not forget the glue?

   I might be slow, but I'm . . . . oh wait!!

        I guess I'm just slow!?!
