Ford Escort XR3 Chicken Coop

Brizio

Recommended Posts

I like where this is going.  Ive been wanting to get one of these.  I had a 1988 Escort GT and I wish I still had it.  It was under powered by today's standards, but it was a blast to drive. Cant wait to see this completed.

I had a black '83 GT.  Yep a lot of fun.

Thank you Jeff! Agree very fun to drive!

Interesting kit. This will look wicked I know it

Thank you Andre! I have an idea in mind, I hope doesn't make Escort's owner mad... :D

Cool project Brizio, hope you can get the body straight.

Thank you Gene! I was able to straight it up, and looks better.

  • 3 weeks later...

I have seen some of your earlier builds and this one is no worse than any others I have seen. You do a great job turning a not-so-good kit in to a gem. This is really great :)

Thank you Gaute! :)

I did not had a lot of time to work during the Holydays, but now I'm back... :D
Body painted.

Bring back the memories of the 80's Escorts/Lynx/Tracers  that ran through the family livery. 5 in all.

I bought my sisters Tracer from her, what a fun car it was. Had the Escort GT engine in it. Then my niece needed a car so I sold it to my oldest sister for kid. She wrecked it not to long after :( .

The color you chose is close to the Lynx my sister bought new in 82.

I built one of the Revell kits back  then.

That car was almost a family member. Sad about the wreck, but I hope no one was injured. About the color I was undecided between silver (like Sennas's Ford) or light blue, this one I had a can son light blue it is.

I bet... :D A friend of mine had a Sierra Cosworth ex rally car, but road legal, white with blue interior, what a monster...

I went to the Mother In Law's, She Who Must Not Be Named! over the holidays and I do indeed have the AMT and the Revell US versions of this car. I was going to bring them back and grabbed the wrong box. It wasn't all bad though. The box I brought had two of the Revell BRE 510s and two Revell Golfs (Golves? Nah), one the street custom and the other the Valvoline racer. I'll see what I can do with those.

I just remembered I bought the two different kit versions with the idea to build a copy of my 1:1 US market 1989 Escort GT. I decided it was beyond my skills to convert it and then not too long after I was behind a Semi truck that lost the entire rear wheel set that holds up the trailer. It bounced and squished my poor little car. Kind of lost the will to try.

Always thought it a shame they did not include a RHD dash in these for us British modellers as Revell did with the E-Type (XKE to you fellows in the US :) )

I had one of these on my stall for years due to it being LHD

This kit has both LHD and RHD dash.

Both two nice cars! I will check when you post about them.

Glad you are here to tell what happen, and I hope you did not had injury. You can always build it.

Some progress on this build.

This kit has both LHD and RHD dash.

Thanks for that :) Mine must have been the Revell kit then. The cloverleaf wheels were quite detailed and looked an interesting model, never had a real Escort though. The Ford cars from this era were just to boxy for my taste and this was all slats and angles.

With the flat tires is this a Basildon banger? (You would have had to live there to know :() Neat feature for a Craylands Basildon diorama by the way ;)

Cheers, J.

What IS 'this thing'?

After searching for some inspiration online, but with any luck, this car will be a chicken coop... :D

Unfortunately I'm using the RHD, if not I could mail you the dash. Flat tire, by the way I'm not using the tires from the kit, too wide. Found some taller and skinnier on the part box. I'm making a chicken coop... :DIMG_1425.thumb.JPG.dbd8fdb1fc44d6da21625
