Penske Fords

Here we have a pair of the new NASCAR kits, pretty much built from the box , using the craptistic chassis, I used wheels/tires/wheelbacks from Revell's previous NASCAR kits, ride height was lowered on both, tire decals are from Mikes Decals and Powerslide decals, chassis were painted using SEM/Promax Chassis Gray.   I added the clear shark fins, bumper camera pod, painted the spoilers the correct colors( ok, close anyways).  The Miller Ford was done for the 2016 year, decals again are from Powerslide.

they both look pretty nice....what was 'wrong' with the kit wheels/tires?

For what the kit is, nothing is wrong with them,  I chose to use the previous tires/wheels as the kits wheels are molded in black and I just wanted to make it easier painting the red/white wheels over white plastic.  The older tires have molded on tire detailing as well that new kit tires do not.   If the wheels were black on real ones, I would of just gone ahead and used the kit tires/wheels.

Both of these look good. I have a question. I'm not a Nascar builder, but I did acquire some of these. The fuel filler , to me, looks way too big...it actually swallows the decal that's supposed to around it there. Your #2 car looks right. Did you rework that area, or am I doing something wrong?

The "sticker" in the kit is way undersized,  I used an aftermarket decal set for the Miller car, and the sheet contains the correct sized green ring , I do believe you can buy a sheet of just the rings.
