snacktruck67
I can't ever seem to remember the proper sequence for paint. Which paint can't go where and which paint can go on all other paints. Can someone please remind me of the proper order for paint. Thanks.
disabled modeler
Hi Mike buddy... You can use a Enamel over a Lacquer but cant use a Lacquer over a Enamel paint is the general rule.

fseva
Thanks Mark. I assume that acrylic is a go in any sequence?Depends on what you're referring to as "acrylic"... I found out the hard way that using the name "acrylic" can also mean the new automotive paints - Acrylic Enamel and Acrylic Lacquer. So, if you're just referring to water-borne acrylics, the only sequence you need to remember is to use primer first, then your finish coat, and if the finish coat is dull, a clear coat, which will give it the shine you want. Snake45
I can't ever seem to remember the proper sequence for paint. Can someone please remind me of the proper order for paint. Thanks. Primer first. Then color. Then clearcoat if you want/need it. Unless you're building a beater/jalopy or "rat." Then reverse the order. MeatMan
I can't add to what these guys suggest, but I keep a Tips & Tricks file on my computer for just such situations. Sometimes its just a link to a thread or site, and sometimes its typing in what I read on a Word doc and filing it under the topic.
