JustBill
Way to go James. Glad you took on the project. I'm a little burnt out on all the things these old kits need addressed. I think the reward will be worth it though.

I think the reward will be worth it though. Thanks Bill, I am glad the chop is over and now I can work on the fine tuning aspects. Working out of town I have time to fill and for $5 I can't really go wrong!

James2
Some progress on the 40, final smoothing and fitting. I did narrow the hood just a bit and I'll be adding the drip rail next...

Ferbz
Nicely done! You're right about chopping those 40's. I'm finessing the chop on my chopped/sectioned 40 at the moment. And thanks for the diagram! It's always valuable to see how it is actually done.
James2
I got the drip rails on and I'm still cleaning up and smoothing things out. Here is a comparison shot with the Revell body.

John Goschke
A tough car to chop properly but this is looking great, especially with the replaced drip rails. Love that you working with the old faithful AMT kit.

Modlbldr
That is beautiful work you are doing. I love the paint job. I am currently working on a AMT 40 Sedan that I cut the top off of in the early 90's mated to the Lindberg Coupe fenders. Having a great time with it. Where did you source the tires and the steel wheels that you replaced? I am looking for a lower profile (than stock) wide whitewall tire with steel rims and beauty rings. Yours looks like what I need.Later-
