Mahogany Rush
Just a few notes and photos of my first build in over 35 years. It is not done, just a progress report. Everything fit like a glove, O.J.'s glove! First I made a makeshift paint booth out of an old plastic container (my ol' lady's ornament box), which works fine. She forgave me after I let her pick the Caddy color. OK, here we go. Paint booth Primered First coat of color. Did 3 coats over a week. Mocking in the engine. Looked good, but had to remove it to put the body on. Mocked in the interior. Up close it looks like it was painted during the Baja 1000. It was not. Body setting on interior. Decided against the gloss white top. Ready to see if it fit. It id not. LOL. Removed engine to fit body to check ride height. Engine bay. Liked the color on the wheel wells, so I did not flat black them. Set hood on to get a feel of what I was aiming for when I get to final assembly. I felt good, so I fired up a Montecristo. Side angle showing an issue with body not fitting completely over the chassis. I hope I figure it out before I run out of scotch and cigars! Thanx for looking. I will post up the finished car when I finish it...doh. And a BIG THANX to everyone who has posted tips, pics, links etc. on the great site! Mahogany Rush
Yeah, the booth works great and easy to move out into the sun. I did not feel comfortable doing the BMF on this build, so it looks kinda naked. Also, it does have one coat of clear laquer over the color Mythical Maroon. Still trying to figure out why the body does not go all the way down over the chassis. The 2 rear floorpan tubs hang below the body just a tad, but that looks normal. I will figure it out soon or I will have a small plastic fire. Thanx for the replies.

CabDriver
Dont be afraid of BMFing - just cut a piece to size, rub it down with a q-tip or similar and use a fresh new scalpel blade to lightly score around the edge, using the moulded in edges as a guide. Jump right in, it's easy!
Mahogany Rush
I think it is too late now since the windows are glued in, correct? I have watched vids and read tutorials on BMF and it doesn't look THAT hard, I agree, but I was unaware of it's existence when I began. I will do it on my next build for sure. Thanx. gtx6970
You can still do the BMF work with the glass in,,you just have to ba little more carefull. But is WELL worth it to do so. Especially on a 59 Caddy
