JollySipper
Just started this in the past few days......... I really like this kit, it will be the second one that I've built. So far I've just removed the door hinges and the mold lines from the body, and got the frame pretty much finished. Wheels and tires from a Corvette, and I plan on using skirts for this......... Any and all comments welcome...........!
vintagercr
I will be watching.

JollySipper
Thanks, Guys! Nothing worthy of a pic, but I just wanted to share a tip I've learned for removing scratches from bare plastic after removing mold lines and such......... I scrub the area that is marred with Comet cleanser and a tooth brush. It softens the scratches, and the primer will go on nice and hide the area that was addressed.......... JollySipper
Just a little progress to show.......... the frame is pretty much finished!
JollySipper
Just one more quick mock-up before I start painting................. which will take a couple of days, as long as the weather is nice....
GTJUNIOR
Mock-up looks good, personally not crazy about the skirts on the rear fenders. The stance is spot on. Goodluck with the paint.

I like it better with the skirts off.
JollySipper
Thanks for commenting, fellas! The skirts maybe look a little funky because they are a different plastic, but it should come together once I get some paint on.......... Speedfreak
I like it, including the skirts. 'Very' clean work TJ. Looks like you got that grill to fit well.
JollySipper
Thought I would show you guys how my paint turned out! I got a little bit of a sag in the clear, on the lower right front......... nothing that I can't live with and polish out in the future.......... chadrob30
Looks good. I'd make it a taildragger if you are going to keep the skirts.
JollySipper
Thanks for your input, Chad! It's too late to modify the suspension any now that everything is painted, though............
chadrob30
Eh, it all goes back to the old saying that my great great great grandpappy used to say...."it's your model, build it how YOU want to"
om617
Looking good,i like the exhaust how it bend down. Go your own way, alsways cool to see somthing new. Btw i like the skirts.
Poppa mitch
What a nice start to a great platform. Your attention to detail on the frame is very appealing, what did you make the exhaust from?Mitch
JollySipper
Thanks, Mitch, for the compliment! The exhaust is just the kit supplied pieces, the turn-down tips are molded that way......... This is a very nice kit, one of Monograms better ones....... As soon as I learn to chop a roof, I want to build one based on James Hetfield's "Crimson Ghost" '37 coupe.....
DumpyDan
Looking good, keep it going
Poppa mitch
I can't see all of the engine, did you wire it, do you buy prewired distributors or do make your own?
JollySipper
Hey, Mitch.......... The engine isn't wired or anything. This build is box stock, aside from the wheels, tires, and skirts........... The distributor is molded into the intake, one of this kit's few design flaws....... JollySipper
Had to do a repaint on this....... The sags in the clear just looked worse the more I looked at them! Minor set-back, I'll be doing final assembly soon, hopefully..........
JollySipper
Well, I got the fenders stripped the best I could, I used oven cleaner and it made pretty quick work of the paint! The body was fine, I just hope I can get the silvers to match the body to the fenders.........
espo
I really like your build. To bad about the fender paint. An idea if you can't get it to match, it was a style at one time of contrasting colored fenders. It may look good in either a darker shade of silver to a dark gray metallic or even black. Just a thought.
wayne swayze
I agree with Espo. Especially the ďark metallic grey fenders.....might look killer!
