GearUpJammer
Well,it's been slow going but finally making a little bit of progress.Learned from my mistakes on my White Western Star and found out Easy Off in the yellow can is the best dechromer(and boy there's a lot of chrome on this kit).Anyway,I still turn to this forum for inspiration and expertise! gatorincebu
Vic, You have a good start on this one. Your chassis looks good. I agree with you about the excessive amount of chrome parts in this kit. Be Well Gator

kilrathy10
Looking good, Man....Frame looks great........I like Easy Off for stripping chrome, too.....It's almost instantaneous.....I spray some in a container, seal it, and in about 5 minutes, the chrome is GONE....Great stuff..... Goodwrench3
Hi --I'm assuming you are using KJ's 2-hole drive wheels ?I'm working on a project with them -- my first time with resin wheels. Can I ask how you attached them ?With the older AMT kits, that metal rod they use with the kit hubs is about half the diameter of the axle housings, so there is a ton of slop. Plus, its way smaller than the hole in the Double Take hub. Thanks for the help.
BigBad
You could use some aluminum tubing as a sleeve to fit over the metal axle in the hub... I did that before and works nicely. You can find those at the hobby shop.
GearUpJammer
Thanks for the comments guys!Yes Jeff, they are KJ's wheels. It's been a little while since I've worked on the truck but as I recall the fit was pretty good.I don't recall anything out of the ordinary. If anything I may have used a dab of super glue.Good luck with your project! gatorincebu
Looking real good thus far! For the replacement axle I would use brass rod as it is stronger I think than the aluminum tube. Be Well Gator
