MrObsessive
Another kit I missed out on and now prices are REALLY outta sight, is the Model King reissue of the Ford Bronco with the trailered Cougar. I'd like one now but I'm not going to pay the crazy eBay prices I see them go for! Just goes to show that if you see a Model King edition of something new (Moebius trucks are a good example), better grab 'em quick as they are limited runs and once they're gone, they're gone! I sure hope Round 2 reissues this one in the near future............just the Bronco alone would be sufficient.
Greg Myers
I didn't care for those at all simply because of the shape of the box.

I've recently gotten the hankering, but I haven't been following the market.

I've recently gotten the hankering, but I haven't been following the market. This was a while back, but I seen one of them go in the $100 range. More than likely due to the Cougar and the trailer that came in that set. I just won't pay that much for that type of kit when it can be reissued for much less than half that. As I mentioned, eBay prices can get crazy as usually a bidding war takes place, and the 'Bay LOVES that as it's more money for them.
Mark
I can't see $100...the Cougar was issued by itself afterwards, and the trailer isn't that tough to find if you really want one. On the other hand, that particular Bronco always did seem to sell for stupid money. I had an original issue one, just prior to the reissue in the set I sold mine for enough to pay for the set. The Bronco by itself might make a decent reissue for Round 2.

I wouldn't be surprised if it pops back up again on its own in a year or two since that Model King reissue was fairly recent.
mikemodeler
To Greg's original post, my buying decisions back in the '70's were predicated on what was on the shelf at stores. The good news was back then one could find kits almost everywhere, unlike today. And as others have mentioned, despite cheap prices for kits, being a young kid didn't translate into having a lot of money for models. I mowed grass and raked leaves, shoveled snow and whatever else I could do to make money for a kit.Today, with magazines, internet, shows and more disposable income, I have become a more informed buyer, and to my wife's dismay, a bigger hoarder! Mike999
ERTL farm tractors, among many others. I remember a Los Angeles toy store, back in the 1980s, where those kits were being dumped at clearance-sale prices. Also remember them going cheap at kit shows, circa the early 1990s. I had a few over the years and foolishly sold or traded them. They sure don't go cheap now!I only have 2 farm tractors left: the reissued AMT John Deere and a built-up Massey-Ferguson 1155. The 1155 cab is missing the rear window and driver's door, and has a broken but repairable front axle. It is neatly built and not painted, so I'm thinking of dumping the cab completely and going the "abandoned behind the barn" route. With lots of weathering. ZTony8
The Tamiya Williams FW24 is what I missed.I think I have at least one of every other Tamiya 1/20 F-1 kit.I'll find it someday.
Bob Ellis
That 28 Ford is fairly rare. I recently sold a partial kit.
Greg Myers
I didn't miss the '28 Model A MPC / AMT. I built it, cut the back door out to make a "Surf" rod, ala Car Crafts Model magazine article. "Back in the day."
unclescott58
The '32 Ford Greg showed in his first post in this thread. The one that came with the Willys coupe. The Willys coupe has been reissued a million times. It's a great kit. But, it's everywhere. I'm working on one right now. But, the '32 sedan. That's one of my "holy grail" kits. I love that Edsel front grille, and that side pipe setup.Other than that there are many kits that I missed the chance at getting back in the day. Lack of money. Stupidity. Or both. Changes in taste. Two others on that list? Jo-Han '66 Cadillac ambulance and/or hearse. And MPC's 1972 Impala. A third one I missed, and wanted badly, was IMC's Avenger GT-12. I got lucky yesterday. And found one I could afford. And bought it.There are several kits I did not miss at the time. But, not knowing what they would be worth to me someday, I did not keep. That's is real sad part of the story. Biggest regret with that one? AMT's Chevy Open Road camping van. There are others. But, that's still the big one to me. Daddyfink
I passed on a Revell Revellion drag car and a U.S. Marines Funny car from a kit show vendor. Walked away thinking about it and when I went back, they where long gone! Now I have a resin for the Revellion and decals for the Marines Funny, but just not the same as the real deal. Good points on the whys and wherefores we didn't get one kit or another. Safe bet there are others with similar stories. Mine was just not being in country. I didn't miss the '28 Model A MPC / AMT. The new tires from the Surf Woody reissue would look good on it.
