Revell Willys Coupe.

Rattle can red, rattle can clear over the decals.  No Brand paints, bought from a pile 'em high cheapo store. Painted on a warm summers day about a year ago. The Gods were smiling at me that day.

Hi Lorne!

Thanks for the infos. I'm finishing a 41 Willys that I converted to a roadster, and I may well use your tip!

That crazy pickup with the bike in back intrigues me.  Do you have WIP pictures of it?

It's a scottish thing, its called celtic know work and its on some of our stone age monuments. Pretty simple to draw really. I've been doing it for years and use it to hide words. This is just a doodle but it follows the same rules, it says rowdi in case you cant make it out. Unlike the roof this is one line though

Hi!

Impressive body of work, really. Bravo! I'm intrigued by the large Chevy: it features what appears to be "cobwebbing", in scale !?! It's a chore to do in 1/1, much less in scale... Any advice on your technique?

Thanks CT , the way to do this is to use lacquer paints , do not thin it , and it will spray thick and with a hair like spray though your airbrush , if it’s too thick add just a bit of thinner until you get the results your looking for , hope this helps, Gary .

Hi Gary!

Thanks. I've done it countless times in 1/1 with thick lacquer and a PRESSURE FEED gun. Never tried it with my airbrush. I'll sure do!

I've experimented with "cobweb in a can", those novelty items sold in craft stores around Halloween... but the results were far from convincing. Time to start the Badger!

Yeah just as easy on a model as it is on a real car , if you paint real cars you shouldn’t have to much trouble, I’ve been painting real cars for over 45 years, I just apply the same techniques to the models, here’s a pic of my real car I just sold .

Hi!

Absolutely gorgeous!

It reminds me of the craze for "panel painting" that was so popular in the late 60's. All customs and funny-cars had them in that era. Just like you, I suppose, I've painted countless "custom vans" with those techniques in the 70's.

It IS making a comeback, as I could tell looking at the "Cars of SEMA show" in trade magazines. The current urethanes make using big flakes more fun than the kazillion coats of lacquer required back then...

Your work is stunning on model cars... I can only imagine the effect on 1/1 cars!

Keep having fun with styrene.
