It's pretty obvious looking and old photos and articles of that period that the installation of a roll bar was to meet the minimum tech requirements - not much more.Some pics I found showed the driver's head nearly 6" taller than the roll bar, while others seem to have the bar mounted only 4-6" higher that the rear deck lid. Should the unthinkable happen, the bar would be relying on you for protection! For my build,I felt that the roll bar should be at least the same hight as the chopped windsheild lol.
