Modlbldr
I got this from a guy at work who picked it up at Goodwill for $2. Since it has no engine and a molded chassis pan I figured it would not take a lot of time. With that said, I should be able to keep interest in it until it is completed......... I primed it with Duplicolor Sandndable white primer yesterday. Today I applied a base of some Copper I had on hand and topped that with Tamiya Mica Red. First mist coats. Wet coats. Tomorrow I'll clear it and set it aside while I work on the interior and chassis. Nothing fancy, just OOB. Modlbldr
I did some wet sanding this morning and sprayed another topcoat of Mica Red instead of the clearcoat I had planned. So to fill some time I did some custom work on a second body I have on hand. I'm thinking Tamiya Orange on this one. Later-
slusher
Two cool builds you have going. I like the color choice on the first one. Orange sound good for your second one...
Modlbldr
Thanks for the comment. I washed the body this morning and began spraying the clearcoat. Got a couple of good coats on the body and then promptly DROPPED it!! Now to wait for it to dry and begin sanding out the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH!Well, at least I can do some bodywork on the other one.Later-
PlasticWagens
Good stuff! Where did the resin bumper covers come from?
Modlbldr
I believe that they are styrene kit pieces. A buddy gave me the front and I believe that the rear is the Acura RSX custom piece. I've had them in my parts boxes for years now.Later-

Kennyboy
Very nice Tom! The color looks similar to Subaru Sedona red pearl. Love that color
Modlbldr
Very nice Tom! The color looks similar to Subaru Sedona red pearl. Love that color Thanks Kenny. I didn't know the name of the color but I had seen it on a couple of Subarus and had it in mind when I tried to replicate it. The red one will be box stock. The blue one will probably be orange. I am looking for a C West or Revell Acura RSX custom hood for it similar to the one in the pic, if you know of anyone who has a spare. Modlbldr
I began the wet sanding on the red one this morning. http:// I also picked the tires and wheels for the custom one.The wheels will be painted a bronze color thati have on hand similar to the ones in the picture of the blue one in the last post. http:// http:// Comments and criticisms welcomed. Kennyboy
Man, these are looking great Tom! I REALLY like what you are doing with these.Where did the white wheels come from? They are real nice.
Modlbldr
Thanks a lot. It's been fun so far. The wheels are a aftermarket Tamiya 1/24 Nissan Skyline detail set. It comes with tires and wheels, steering wheel, a few other parts and Nismo decals. I picked up two sets a while back at the LHS on clearance for $4.50 each!I painted this set bronze today and put the Nismo.decals on them. I'll get a pic up tomorrow.of the package and the.wheels I painted.Later-
Modlbldr
Kenny, Here is the mangled package that the wheels came in. http:// Here is the wheels after painting. http:// http:// I'm not sure if I'll use this wing or not. It will take a bit of reshaping to make it work. Later-
Kennyboy
Hey tom, I would do the blue car wingless or a very mild lip wing if anything. Also, nismo stands for Nissan motorsports....not nitpicking, just wanted to throw it out there. I do really like these builds though!! Modlbldr
I was actually thinking of doing it without a wing. I think it would look better.I know Nismo.stands for Nissan Motor sports but I felt that the wheel needed something and I had no other decals that would work.Later-

Lowlife ! !
I'm really liking the blue one, personally I don't like that wing, but I would still use one ! The red ones a great colour , I also liked it in the first pic where its dusted red over the copper ! Keep it going, looking forward to more ! Edited July 18, 2016 by Lowlife ! ! Modlbldr
Martin, Thanks for the great comment. I also liked the dusting of red on the copper. Still not sure what I'm going to do about the wing on the blue one (soon to be orange). I've been looking at photos of wings and I'm not sure if I want to scratchbuild one. The work on the red one is progressing, although a bit slow. Got the chassis detailed and the wheels detailed and installed. http:// http:// Nothing special here. Going to start on the interior today. Later-
Modlbldr
I decided to work on making the hood on the custom STi. Cut out the scoop and carved the opening. Modlbldr
Got a bit more done during my breaks today. Since I burned through the paint in a couple of small spots I sprayed a couple.more color coats and then three more coats of clear. http:// http:// Also got some work done on the interior. Sprayed a coat of Duplicolor dark grey- turned out to look like flat black to my untrained eye. I misted on a bit of grey for contrast and to help simulate a bit of carpet. http:// Any comments or criticisms welcomed. Later-
Modlbldr
Since I am building two Subies at the same time I needed to change the title. I've been working on the interior of the stock one today. I have the interior just set in place for now. I still need to paint the flat red accent color on the door panels and seats. Other than that the interior is completed. http:// http:// Later-
Modlbldr
I finished detail painting the interior of the stock one today but got no pictures yet. I also worked a bit on the hood of the custom one. First coat of putty sanded and a quick shot of primer to see where I'm at. http:// http:// http:// Not looking too bad for a flunkie.
