Harry P.
It's been done, years ago. Remember the Amphicar from the early '60s?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphicar

Both GM and Ford build amphibious vehicles during WWII.
Harry P.
Was done before that. Both GM and Ford build amphibious vehicles during WWII. Of course, but those were military combat vehicles, not meant for sale to civilians or driven on public roads.
Art Anderson
Of course, but those were military combat vehicles, not meant for sale to civilians or driven on public roads.Ahh, but GMC DUKW's (Ducks)ARE driven on public streets and roads! Snake45
I once saw a pic of a boat that had been made out of a '63-'67 Corvette coupe. Or at least the top half of one grafted onto a hull of some kind. And then there was the WWII VW Schwimwagen, which seems to have been the inspiration for the body shape of the Meyers Manx and other early dune buggies. Yes, here it is:I have plans on building a model based on that with the Hemi Hydro and a Corvette body I got.I really like the Andy Saunders built Showboat above. What was it based on? plastic trucker
Didn't John Teresi build a model of that a few years ago?
Snake45
Yes, here it is:I have plans on building a model based on that with the Hemi Hydro and a Corvette body I got.I really like the Andy Saunders built Showboat above. What was it based on? That's not the one I saw. That one's obviously "inspired by" a '63 Coupe. The one I saw was an ACTUAL top half of a Vette Coupe. I'll see if I can find the pic. ETA: I'm not 100% sure this is the same one I saw before, but if it's not, it's the same idea. Actually if you google-image Corvette boat, you can see quite a few interesting concepts and customs of various sorts . https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/30/69/bf/3069bf1036e992a9af86c298ab90a8e2.jpg Edited August 14, 2016 by Snake45
GT4494
I understand that the Amphicar required both a road licence plate and if you put it in the water boat registration numbers were required. All the boat equipment had to be working correctly
