MPC 1971 Chevelle Malibu

Recommended Posts

This is an original MPC 1971 Chevell SS kit that I converted to a plain jane Malibu. This is a replica of the first new car my father ever bought. I got the straight 6 from the parts box, along with an automatic transmission, converted the grille to a non SS using the bowtie from the grille of an 90's AMT silverado kit, made a vinyl roof from blue painters tape painted black, used the bench seat from the Revell 69 Nova COPO kit, made a column shift from extra plastic I had, and made a single exhaust. The flat hood is a resin piece.

Nice! I'm not sure I've EVER seen an MPC '71 Chevelle built.

Great job, my first car was a 1972 Chevelle Malibu with a 6 in it and black vinyl top, bench sets auto.  Thanks nice work.

This is an AMT. The MPC had a different grille and no funny ridge line in the door

Really nice model.  I have a soft spot for these, owned a 1:1 350/auto back in the day.

I love this,  a '71 Chevelle/Malibu this isn't a 454, 4-on-the-floor SS.  A beautifully done plain jane.  THIS is what people drove back in the day!
