MoparMark Posted September 23, 2016 Share Posted September 23, 2016 Just finished my first large scale build. I've always wanted to do this build seeing this race all the time when I was a kid. It's based on Revell Prudhomme ARMY dragster. The only scratch stuff is the front axel,( they notoriously break), the wire wheels from I believe Micro Nitro. I built a Dannekas blower and made a new axel fairing connected to a one piece vacuform chassis skin. And I made the decals for this as well. This build is a work of Art and a very clean build. Nice job on everything thing. I would love to see more close up shots of this as well and even some with the body off. I wish Revell would rerelease more of the 1/16 scale dragsters and funny cars. Detailing them is a lot easier on my 59 year old eyes. Again, great job. If anyone wants to know whats wrapped around the engine in a couple of shots It,s wax Parafilm sold my Micro Mark, It helps protect the chrome bits without leaving a film or rubbing the chrome off . iBorg Posted September 26, 2016 Share Posted September 26, 2016 A few thoughts:The vac-u-form body with the lines for the body separations vs cut apart (I'm guessing they're not cut) is one of the best builds I've seen to recreate such a body. Most dragster builds, the body just looks too clunky. The chassis and engine, the total rear of the car looks real. I hope if you build another car like this, you try to do a WIP. It would be a great teaching device. I hope you'll tell us more about the vac-u-formed body and the process. This is so much better than what I've come to expect. Have you tried it in 1/25? The decals are outstanding. I saw this printer and thought about getting one. What is your solution for white? White paper? I really thought the were printed on an ALPS. A tutorial on using it (Amazon shows it for $80) could help out a lot of us would be printers who keep on hoping for the next generation Alps to be released. I really like the idea of the Wax Parafilm from Micro Marks. I just may have to pic some of that stuff up and give it a try. I like how you have protected the engine while work on other components with it. Also... Those Decals are just amazing. I would love to be able to print my own decals and learn how to do the Art work for them.Do you have plans to build another 1/16th Scale Build?? If so any ideas on what it will be?
