MarkJ
I'm pretty much a Nascar only guy but I have finally decided to build this model. I'm probably going to need a lot of help from you drag race guys so please chime in if you see me doing something wrong.

W-409
Now this looks interesting! I'm a great fan of the look of a Two Door Sedan and the start of your conversion looks really good. Do you have a specific car in mind that you want to replicate or will this look like something that "could have been"?

MarkJ
I need to get rid of the sloped area at the back of the roof that the hardtop has but the sedan does not..
espo
I also like the tudoor sedans. I wasa going to tell you to check out MCW since they have several very nice tudoor conversions, but it looks like you have this one well in hand. The mystery car, would that be a light blue mt. with the name Mickey Thompson on it ? Â

No it won't have Mickey Thompson on it. Thank you for your interest in the build.

Thank you for your interest in the build. There was a famous Drag Racer from Texas I remember only his last name I think was Gay, not sure of the spelling. Anyway I like how you're doing your conversion. Â

espo
You might want to consider casting this before you paint it. There are some who might want to buy one of these bodies.

MarkJ
Yes, The MCW cast is a great product. I'm really not interested in casting and I doubt that what I am doing is as good as the MCW resin body.

Alan
Mark, how come you did not use strip styrene for the frames ? Seems like you went the hard route .....
MarkJ
Mark, how come you did not use strip styrene for the frames ? Seems like you went the hard route .....Alan, I don't understand your question. I did use strip styrene for the frames. The quarter glass frame was cut out from a piece of sheet styrene because its much harder to make a strip adhere to a bend like that. Alan
I see, I have done conversions like that and use the strip and zap .......
MarkJ
I see, I have done conversions like that and use the strip and zap .......Me and zap don't get along. The fumes are tough on my asthma. Regular testors glue doesn't seem to bother it. I have to make things fit before I glue them unless you have a situation where you can use small clamps. also I have had things glued with zap come apart with age. BACK GLASS AND MORE IS ON THE NEXT PAGE. Edited January 16, 2017 by MarkJ
