lghtngyello03
Alright guys, I'm starting a new project. A 70 Monte Carlo SS. The plan is to make it Safari Yellow with a black vinyl top, slammed with some staggered Torq Thrust II's. This will be my first time doing a vinyl top. I have researched some, but not a lot, and have determined that I will do the spray glue, then paint it semi-gloss method, (as stated here in this topic.....http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/12956-best-way-to-replicate-a-vinyl-top/)Could one of you guys tell me what size styrene strips (Evergreen Part # would help too, internet purchase) I need to use for the seams on the roof, as well as what size styrene for the chrome trim around the vinyl top? Thanks in advance,Scott
gtx6970
I think i used .010 x .020 for the top seams And.020 Half round for the surrounding trim mldg.

gtx6970
I'll have to ck but I think it just says half round - .020 on the pkg
StevenGuthmiller
I've found the thinner the better for the top seams. Too thick & they stand up too high, looking out of scale. I cut very thin strips of .007 clear film that I picked up at Hobby Lobby for the top on my '69 Coronet. The scale looks about right to me. Tim H
Depends on the 1:1 scale your are following some could be wider some narrower. But good rule of thumb is ..20 half round. and the .20 x .10 for the seams. Tim
