1/12 Tamiya Ferrari 312b

Recommended Posts

Hey Chris, VERY nice job on this kit. The car brings back great memories of hearing early 70's Ferrari 312T's at Watkins Glen.  Their flat 12 was the coolest thing ever as you could tell where the cars were even out of sight as their sound was so unique (GREAT!!!!!)  best of luck as you finish her up.   cheers, tim

I am just catching up with your build and it looks great!  I have one in my stash too hope to get to it in 2019 as a prelude to building the 312 T3 and T4’s awaiting in the stash....   As for the rivets, I LOVE the look of tiny pins heads for rivets, but I’ll admit right up front that is is a long arduous task to clip, drill, set each one. I hope you’re happy with the Archer transfers and look forward to seeing the results once you hit that red with clear and polish.  ‘Keep your legs moving’ brother, it’s looking good!

Thanks for the kind words! I was going to try the regular rivets, but I found the archer ones and gave this a shot. They do have there plus’s quick and easy, there minuses is that they can fold onto itself which is a pain. It did take me a wile to lay them out. I think next time I will be doing the old fashion way.

I can’t believe how frustrating a hobby can be. I had the large gum ball decal wrinkle up and after numerous times of trying to get it to lay flat, I have no luck whatsoever ???

so now I will have to try to start over again. I am super frustrated. After I calm down and realize that this is a learning experience all will be good again.

For those few who are keeping an eye on this build I do thank you. Your kind words and encouragement do make this process fun and enjoyable.

Keep going sir! It will turn out great! Remember,  I have some red if you need it.

Thanks Bruce!! As of this moment I have enough paint. Just trying to find enough patience. Replacement decals can’t get here quick enough.

by the way: where is the show being held at? I have never been to one

Great looking build! I have one of these that I have been puttering away on for the past few years, and need to get it back on the workbench. If the latest set of decals gives you issues, you may want to check out the ones made by Indycals. Their products can be found on www.indycals.net.

Thank you

and for the heads up on the decals ?

So, after a few long days of waiting for replacement decals. They arrived last week! I got my stubby little fingers to work.

For the last couple of nights I got to put all the decals on. Now if Mother Nature would be kind enough to warm up enough so I can put on some clear.

I may need to ask my buddy who has a body shop, if I can use his paint booth.

Hello all ...

I finally have a update on my build. As you all know it’s just a little too cold to paint anything outside. Even hear in Nor Cal.

So I asked a friend for a favor if he could spray the clear in his paint booth at his body shop. So I brought him my peace’s to get done. Now hears the funny part, he assures me that it won’t be that long of a wait to get it done...

Well I guess 3 weeks isn’t long.... lol

I got them back today, they look great!! Now I can try to get back on track with this.

Thanks for looking

Chris

I happen to get some bench time tonight, been working on some small details that where omitted from the kit.

It may not be correct for the car, and I have been using what I have laying around to give it a more realistic look.

I am happy with the look, and my progress.

Thanks for looking

I had a chance to merry the engine to the tub. I will say it wasn’t without a lot of struggle. Parts started to pop off and I started sweating and getting frustrated.

So I put it down and went and visited my daughter for the weekend. Went to the Sacramento Autorama, got to see some cool stuff and got my mind right.

When I got home, took a deep breath and got at it...

Hope you like

Chris
