fomocomav
I thought I saw BF Goodrich on one of the tires he shows, but he says there is no brand name. Did anyone else see that, or was I imagining it because I WANT there to be a brand name?

Did anyone else see that, or was I imagining it because I WANT there to be a brand name? You are correct, @3:31 of the video you can see the BF Goodrich on the side that gets the white wall inserts. The non white wall side had no tire logo's. Nice catch, and he did say they were unmarked. Nice looking kit. Thanks for the video, I'll probably have to pick one of these up. hpiguy
Holy cow, I did miss that, thanks for letting me know! Mistakes do happen.Nice to see they are using brand tires again. When I get home and have access to YT I'll go in and add text to correct the oversight. Thanks again for spotting that. Mr mopar
Very nicely done video first . This screams Panel truck , so making a SWB Panel is nearly a snap. The rear door gives an experienced builder the option of the Lift up and Tail gate assembly option too! I also for see the Resin Guys making the LWB version too. Loads of possibilities hereI agree Panel truck all the way ,and slammed in the weeds.
Luc Janssens
Nice to see they are using brand tires again. Don't think they erased the sidewalls of these tires to begin with, same for the Michelin TRX. Only the ones depicting Goodyear tires were affected by the licencing woes IIRC
horsepower
For the details guys, the floor pan depicts rubber mats since these didn't have any carpet available, even as an option, and the engine depicted is the 195 horsepower 283, the 327 optional engine had different valve covers, also by this time in Chevrolet's history they no longer painted the lettering on the 283 valve covers, they were solid Chevrolet orange. But if you really want a 327 in yours you can use the stock painted valve covers from the Round 2 '66 Nova kit last available as the Bill Jenkins "Grumpy's Toy" A/S drag racer. Ron Hamilton
Thanks a lot for the comprehensive review of the kit Chris. I have been doing a lot of research on this one since the kit was announced, and it looks to me that this kit has the basics to do a nice replica of a classic mid '60's Chevy Suburban. The tires in this kit look like the ones that were in the original Monogram '59 Cadillac Eldorado kit, which were a decent set of B.F.Goodrich Silvertowns with separate white wall inserts. Personally I do not care for the wide whites on a car past 1961, so I will be modifying mine to be either black walls, or a narrow band white wall tires. There are not too many photographs of a 1966 Suburban out there, but a '64 or '65 can also be done with a front emblem swap, which are included in the 1964 and 1965 Chevrolet pickup kits, and the Model Car Garage's '64-5 Chevy truck photo etch set also has the emblems. I will probably do mine as a '64 or '65 just to be different.I want to build it as a tow rig for a drag car and trailer.

unclescott58
Another great review! I still love Chris' reviews. They are the best. And I'm looking forward to adding this Suburban to my collection.Scott
hpiguy
Thanks guys, I think I'd like to do mine as a plain jane hardware truck. I wanted to do a glossy fancy strip mall crawler style but after seeing the decals I really think a plain hardware store truck would be really fun looking.
