Dieselhead Posted August 1, 2017 Share Posted August 1, 2017 What would be a decently-accurate paint for Detroit blue-green? I'm planning on a Detroit or two soon and I want them in OEM colors. I'd prefer something not too expensive since I won't be building too many of these motors so I don't think it would be quite worth it. Rattlecan or airbrush is fine. Thanks. Dieselhead Posted August 1, 2017 Author Share Posted August 1, 2017 I'm certain with good primer anything's possible, but I'd be afraid that an auto paint would be too thick for good adhesion to model parts without drowning out the details. gotnitro? Posted August 3, 2017 Share Posted August 3, 2017 I had the same concern about using auto paint, the duplicolor alpine green lays down very smooth and doesn't bury the smaller details. highway Posted August 4, 2017 Share Posted August 4, 2017 (edited) I used Model Master USSR Fulcrum Gray/Green on this Detroit, pretty close to my eyes at least for older Detroits like a few Series 60s I had driven. Jim B Posted August 7, 2017 Share Posted August 7, 2017 For Detroit Diesel Alpine Green from the 1970s I use Testors Model Masters Grun RLM 62, and for Series60 Blue I uses Tamiya Medium Blue XF-18.
