1970 Chevelle SS

Hi all.   This is my first post. I actually built this car about 20 years ago when my modeling skill wasn't that good.  I primarily build 1/48 aircraft but have wanted to start on cars.  So I thought I would start on a rebuild of this old Chevelle.

Here's what I started with.

Here's where I'm at after 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of paint. I know the color isn't right, I was trying to mix something up.  It's actually bright red with candy apple red. Waiting for the racing stripe decals then clear coat.

The engine got repainted then added some wiring to busy it up. Probably not to scale or right placement but looked "OK" to me.

Painted the interior semi-gloss black with some silver highlights.

OK. Got the decals on and 3 coats of gloss coat.  After that dried for a day I tried some Novus plastic polish. I did 2 applications of the #2 polish then buffed that out then applied the #1 polish. It looks a bit shinier. DSCN1090.thumb.JPG.c28abda75bbb949c15f68

Next I worked on the chassis.  Pretty straight forward here.

Finally the wheels.  Sanded the tread to give a slightly worn look. Then painted the rims a gloss black. I used a toothpick with white paint for the lettering.

I have to get some bare metal foil for the framing and I should be able to wrap it up.

I couldn't help but notice a red wire from the distributor to the fill cap on the valve cover.  What is that meant to depict?

based on his caption for that photo, I'm guessing it's meant to depict a red wire...and as red wires go, it's a fine depiction.
