1947 Labatt's Beer Truck

Recommended Posts

This is an HO scale commision build of a 1947 Labatt's Beer truck. It's a resin kit from a company called Sylvan out of Canada, and doesn't build up to badly at all. I used Testors Sunburst enamel, mixed one-to-one with Testors red enamel. The decals were applied and then the whole model was cleared with Testors high-gloss clear enamel. Essentially the Donn Yost method, 2:1 enamel to lacquer thinner.

Chrome is the 1mm Molotow Pen on the small details (including the lettering on the front) and the ink airbrushed on the fin. However, the front grill and bird, and the side rails on the truck and tractor are BMF.

Thanks for looking!

It's a shame this is not available in 1/25. The first time I saw this design I thought it surely was just a design exercise and not a real truck. Sure enough it was in fact not only real but also a very daring adventure design exercise. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Tom. I would love to see this in a larger scale myself. I really grew to like it while working on this one.

So, I liked this so much I went to the Bay to have a look see. Sure enough I found 3. All were about 50 bucks with the shipping. Too much for me for a kit I would probably mess up anyway. I really do like this however.

Thank you, Ray. Hope you can find one someday.

That's a really nice job, especially at that scale. Smoother than any HO vehicle I've seen.!

Got to get me one of those!!! WOW!! Great build!! Several years ago I built 100 or more HO scale cars &trucks for a model railroad group. They were cast by a company called Stony Mountain. So I know the skill/talent to build these small vehicles. Fantastic work, Art.

Very, Very Nice Art B)

I've been tempted by a few HO kits, but need to get a new set of "magnifiers" first!

Thank you guys for your kind comments!
