1/24 DeTomaso Mangusta

Recommended Posts

I'm interested in finding a 1/24 Mangusta kit, found this image on a google search. I know nothing about it, can anyone shed some light on it, or have one for sale?

I assume it's very basic, love to see the pics though.

It is VERY basic, and not really 1/24 scale........more like 1/28. It will take me a ton of work to get it to look like a real Mangusta. You guys will see when I post the contents later today.

This is the kit in all it's glory! Lol  I immediately got rid of the wheels and tires and replaced them with a set of Fujimi's. Other than that...this is the complete kit.

Hi,

Wow not a bad kit and nice tire/wheel swap.  Yea big money on eBay for one of these.

It would be easier to list whats right about this kit as a representation of the actual car, than to list the TONS of things that are wrong.......whats accurate about it?.....the wheels are....now, that's it. this is a HORRIBLE representation, but its an acceptable starting point for me anyway.....lol

Hi,

Well it would be cool to measure the 1/20 version as Bandai tend to run small.

So if your 1/24 feels like a 1/28, perhaps a 1/20 may feel closer to 1/24ish?

Does any one here have the 1/20 version to measure?

Unless the translation program is wrong, it says its 25000 yen, which converts to just over $213 USD. I'd say that's a bargan for a kit like that.

It'll be 24,000 yen each, and 50 kits are to be cast.

The first 3 kits will be sold on Yahoo Japan auction.

Sheesh.  If Brad from HRM did a simple kit WITH an engine it would be maybe $125 at most.  It is a shame the price is based on the limited supply and that there are no other reasonable alternatives.

So the Japanese kit does have an engine and looks very detailed and has photoetch so at around $200 it seems more reasonable.  I guess given the limited interest in a mass market it is this or the very rare slot car ish alternative.  If someone would cast the body it would not be hard to kitbash the rest from a Pantera.

Hi,

I'd say it's more then a slot car ish kit.

Seems pretty brilliant to me, not a bad price for such a kit.
