Hennessey F-150 Velociraptor

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys

Thought I would share my latest WIP, Its only early days at this stage, got the framework for the front bumper started last night, have drawn up a template for the shape of it.

I'm wanting to build something like this.2014-hennessey-ford-f-150-velociraptor-6

It featured on an episode of Top Gear (when Top Gear was Top Gear...) Clarkson drove it up a snowy hill.

Heres Stig drifting it around the track! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iSftD0j2zY

59e5459956c27_Hennessey-VelociRaptor-in-I'll be using Revells Snap Kit F150, which is a really decent kit esp for the price!

The hardest part is fabricating the front bumper, with all the flat surfaces & angles. But i;m keen to give it go.

I havent been able to find anything close to the proper wheels, But I do have these 2, One on the left is from Scenes Unlimited & the 18" Dupond wheel is from Fujimi

I think use the Fujimi wheels, paint them satin black, and hit some of the bolt heads with silver. They will be close enough for what you're trying to accomplish.

Cheers guys!

Made some more progress & its starting to look like a proper bumper now. I left it as a separate piece for as long as I could, but required gluing on last night.

Now I need to finish the "top" of the bumper & then can start trimming away all the excess on the back

Nice start.  I bought several of these with the intention to make a 4 door as well as the stock kit.  Do you have any intentions of making this a 4 door because I wouldn't mind knowing the do's and don'ts of that process.  Either way I look forward to your build.

Hey mate, Nah Ive decided to leave it as a 2 door, which makes things heaps easier. But I am considering this for a future build.....

VelociRaptor-6X6-side-black.thumb.jpg.972018 Velociraptor 6x6!!! Pretty cool!!!

Ive finally finished the front bumper, going to prime it this weekend to check all the joints & then work on filling in the gaps.

Oh I do still have the lights to do & tow hooks. Pretty happy with how its come out so far, its slightly deeper than it should be (0.5mm deeper than stock bumper) but still looks pretty good.

Now onto the rear bumper which should hopefully be eaiser

Made a fair bit of progress over my summer holiday, got the front bumper all smoothed out & painted the whole thing.

For the body colour I used Badgers Minitaire paints - Irridiated Yellow, plus I mixed in some Pearl powder, then custom decals & clearcoat.

Last night got started on the interior, went for a Harley Davidson edition style interior, gloss blacks, matte silvers etc.

Will there be a topic on the RWB 993? Lovely car! Wondering which kit you used (HobbyDesign or C1) and how you attached those rear 'flaps' on the wheel arches...

That Hennessey is pretty special too! You don't like building standard cars, do you?

Cheers Everyone!

Matthijs -  yeah not much of a fan of out of the box builds, heres what I worked on over my summer holiday, painting the 9 models id spent the last few months modifying, out of the 9 i painted over xmas, only 2 are box stock (merc 300sl & Lambo)

Also added a Nismo R32 from Santa, that, the BRZ & the Foose Camaro still need final colour coats but otherwise most are ready for assembly.

I like to bulk paint my projects over summer, get the main parts painted & then put them in the box ready to be assembled through the winter.

Yes the RWB will get a thread of its own shortly, I used the C1 Models RWB kit which is good, I also used their rear 'flaps' set too, which was a major pain in the A$$!!! Glad i decided to attach to the body before I painted the body rather than after.

I'll get some better pics of the F150 tonight

Hey Guys

Cheers for all the wonderful comments!

Heres a few pics of the interior, started out as Grey (I used Minitaire 'Coal', pretty much a dead match for Tamiyas German grey, the seat centres even have German grey on them (3rd pic only) & you can hardly notice any difference), detailed painted over a couple of hours. Googled images for the interior & found Ford did a Harley Davidson edition so I kinda copied that for the most part.

The Sun was shining over the weekend & managed to squeeze in some bench time between airbushing other projects. Got the interior assembled & installed with the glass, & then managed to mount the rear tray & fit the chassis.

Only a few things left to finish like how the hell I'm gonna mount the wheels plus the grill & vents & then a couple of touch-ups to do.

Couldn't resist a few pics with the kit wheels, think I might lower it a bit for a more aggressive stance.

Trying to finish her off before the 8/02 for a model club meeting, but have a work trip away for 3 days so not sure.

Any tips on how to mount different wheels to this particular kit, Ive got flat resin wheels & the kit has only a rod thorugh the chassis...

Managed to finish her off just before my model club meeting last week. The wheels were alot harder than i expected to change, needed them to be strong to hold this things weight, ended up using back half of the original wheel & then mounted the resin wheels to the front & trimmed to suit.
