Foiling is using metal foil to simulate the real chrome trim on model cars. 

There is a commercial product called bare Metal Foil, that is the easiest way to do it. 

Imagine household aluminum foil, with adhesive backing. Cut a piece slightly larger than the trim you want to "chrome", apply it on the model, burnish it well, and cut the excess with a brand new hobby knife. 

I make my own foil, but BMF can be found easily on ebay.
