GerN
Very nice concept. That Cougar has a clean design from all angles, so you may not need to do any other modifications for a real winner. BTW, I've converted the roof vents to windows when I've grafted a copy of this top onto other cars.

rsxse240
I might have had a hard time chopping up an unbuilt original. This old gluebomb had seen its better days, tho, and I thought it was time to recycle!! LOLI see your point and i will whole heartedly agree with your choice. I think this will be quitea stunner when it's done!

Bucky
I got back on this one. I dug some stuff from under the sink to see if it would work: This is the stock hood from the Cougar that won't be used in this build....you know....just in case it goes wrong! LOL After 1 1/2 hours, the gold paint was tacky. We'll see how it goes......
Pat Minarick
Can't wait to see this done. I'm planning on building one too ,using the Funny car kit that they rereleasing. Already did a 69 ,and trying to piece together a 70.

Bucky
That's a real beauty! Which roof did you use?
Pat Minarick
16 minutes ago, Bucky said: That's a real beauty! Which roof did you use? Thanks. I used the 69 Shelby roof, cowl ,engine ,engine compartment, interior and chassis. Not much of the Cougar was really used, just the lower body and chrome. 1930fordpickup
I like this Keith. Would have taken sales away from the Mustang if they did this back in the day.

Bucky
The Simple Green didn't seem to work: So, I put in the Purple Power: After nearly three days, it's to this point: Pretty slow going,
Geno
This is looking great, can't wait to see it when it's done. I'm working on a '69 version Cougar Sportroof now. I'm about half done with it.
Bucky
That looks nice! Which roof did you put on that?
Geno
Thanks Keith, it's from a scrap AMT '69 Mustang. I just cut out the back section and grafted it in. Edited March 29, 2018 by Geno

Bucky
After several days of soaking and scrubbing: I started with is: It's a lot cleaner, but still some work to do!
Bucky
A fellow member of OSM forum gave me this "Why Didn't I Think Of That" tip: He suggested using TESTORS thinner on a q-tip. Here, I've done the deck lid and passenger side of the roof. It seems to be working. Thanks, Jeff!!
Bucky
The remaining paint has been removed from the body: I'll run the backside of a #11 blade thru the panel lines to get any residual paint out. Then, I'll be ready to attach the yellow Mustang roof.
alan barton
I've always loved the early Cougars so I can't wait to see your results here. I would definitely look at some alternative quarter window treatments, just to separate the visual cues from the Mustang. Good luck in your endeavors. Cheers Alan
James2
Cool subject matter and I always enjoy a good grafting party.
Bucky
A mock-up without the old gold paint: I'll cut out the quarter vents before I attach the roof.
