Early stages, just fitted wheel arch fenders, going to try Halfords filler primer for the first time on this one so fingers crossed.  So far kit appears to be decent quality for a vintage one.  I will post more photographs as I continue, still haven't decided on the colour but I am thinking black for this one, really suits the car.  Last photo shows the rest of the cars on the bench.

So this is the filler primer for plastic from Halfords.  2 coats and it went on really well, might have found my new primer choice.  Bit of sanding to do and then another coat before starting the top coat.   I am still thinking of gloss black for the car. IMG_20171126_143157807.thumb.jpg.e37c8eee135acec87eddc3a1ae9064a5.jpg

Tried to get a bit more done this morning but pushed for time.  Laid down first coats of Halfords acrylic IMG_20171130_091721118.thumb.jpg.a008852cf189bcdee3b80025c51877c5.jpgIMG_20171130_094251734.thumb.jpg.06374bf0b1d41f1b35752fcc3ba235ce.jpggloss black, few more coats required but temp dropping rapidly here.  Mounted the engine in the chassis, hopefully I will get the chance to build the chassis up tomorrow.

coming out very nicely!

Fair warning -  be very careful withe the A-pillars on a countach this big. I just built a 1:24, and Fujimi smartly included a strut in in the middle of the windshield that I clipped off only at the very end. With all the handling that will be necessary, it may not be a bad idea to use a cardboard insert taped in to provide support while you are building.

Best wishes, looking forward to see how this turns out.

First polishing session done on the body.  I decided not to clearcoat this one and have a go at the black paint with the polishing compounds as I know black can be a real pain in 1:1 cars.  I used zero paints, coarse, medium and fine, similar to Tamiyas.  Not an easy body to work on and I was extra careful with those A pillars Tom, they are fragile.  Rest of the body parts are drying so hopefully tomorrow I can polish them.  Unfortunately due to the temperature I am having to spray in the garage and I have already noticed some dust getting into the wet paint, roll on spring for spraying outdoors.IMG_20171205_110559154.thumb.jpg.5bff6fcb6998b63d7eba2d0038b915f2.jpg

I have to do the same, and i noticed this also. However i got a big sheet of plastic (builder plastic we call it here in holland) to cover everything inside the garage. Since then ive had no problem with dust in the paint anymore (just remember to take your shoes of before entering the garage, made a huge difference also!)
