FX3vette
Here is my 1969 Camaro SS/RS. I used the great Revell Z/28 RS kit for this build and took the 350 cid engine from the '69 Nova SS (Revell) kit, the hood from the Hot Wheels '69 Camaro Snap-kit (Revell) and the wheels and tires from the '68 Charger (Revell). I used the Model Car Garage vinyl top material and '69 Camaro photo-etched detail set. The paint is Testors Dark Red and the decals are from the Revell '69 Camaro SS/RS convertible kit. Thanks for checking it out.
DumpyDan
Looks really nice Stephen, great detailing under the hood the body spot on. The only thing I would have changed is spraying the red interior with clear dull coat over the gloss paint. But that's just me.
FX3vette
Thanks, Dan. I did put a coat of semi-gloss but I agree, it is still too shiny...especially outdoors.

Anglia105E
I really like this build and it's a superb scale model. Looks like a real car in the first of your photos especially. You can easily fix the shiny interior seating and the road wheels are stunning. Revell kits are so well manufactured, I have built several Rolls-Royce Silver Clouds and also the London bus by Revell which is a huge build. From here in England I have done a lot of research for a Rolls-Royce motor car that was owned by Margaret L. Sayward-Wilson of Victoria, British Columbia. I was able to obtain some very useful information from the Royal Colwood Golf Club and also the Rolls-Royce Foundation of North America and Canada in Pennsylvania. I do like the dark red colour of your Camaro, which photographs great outdoors. I am photographing my 1:24 scale diorama and the scale models indoors, using 100 watt daylight bulbs. Noticed your engine detail under the hood.... very impressice and nicely done! One photo below. David J. Watson

Snake45
I owned a real '69 SS350/RS two-tone for about 7 years and you pretty much nailed this, right down to Testor Dark Red being a good match for '69 Chevy Garnet Red. Mine had a single-snorkel air cleaner (Tonawanda-built engine), and I've never been able to authenticate Super Sport wheels on a '69 Camaro, though I have seen them on a couple of factory photos with "1970" license plates as late/extension builds. But it's obvious that you know your Camaros (or did your research) and your skill level is high. Well done and model on!

espo
As others have mentioned the under hood detailing is exceptional. You used the correct colors to show the different components and the addition of the PCV hose and the vacuum hose for the brake booster. I like how you used the parts from so many different kits to get this one correct. Looks real enough that you are either going to have to store it for the winter or get some snow tires for it. Anglia105E
That's okay Dale in Australia, your comment is honest and welcome, and this topic is about FX3vette's build not mine.David
TooOld
Whoa that's nice !! Combining parts from different kits to get the proper look really paid off . . . and I like the magnums on it .

FX3vette
Thank you all for the comments and compliments. This is a great kit and has been around for some time so I wanted to do something a bit different with it while staying true to factory stock (I am a bit of a purist when it comes to autos). While doing my research I came across a great deal of literature available for the 1969 Camaro and the options available. The SS wheels were a no-brainer when found them on the options list as RPO N66. Not very many Camaros were built with the SS wheels (around 300) but they do look good on the car.I have a plan to build an RS convertible in either Glacier Blue or Dusk Blue with a blue interior, 327 cid engine and wearing RPO N96 Mag-style wheel covers from the Revell '65 Chevelle Z-16 kit. I haven't decided to go with white-line tires or red-line for that one.

I haven't decided to go with white-line tires or red-line for that one. Beat you to that one. But I used the wretched backbirth MPC kit. It's a replica of my old real '69 SS/RS, the only difference being mine was a hardtop with a white painted top. I used Model Master Pontiac Engine Blue for '69 Glacier Blue and it's pretty darn close. I forget what I used for the blue gut but it's also pretty close, and I lived in that blue interior for something like 7 years.
