Cpt Tuttle
Sounds fun, I think I'll try to join with a Monogram Lotus Esprit, I guess that's 80s enough?
freshawk
@Jordan White , if this includes building in the style of , am i open to do a tacky monochrome 80s style older hot rod? think the Hot Rod mag version of the 55 chevy , that had zero chrome?
Jordan White
Yes, that is definitely allowed! I have a soft spot for that styling! Anyways, the build is officially open! I have benn unpacking from a recent move, so have not had the chance to pull out my kits yet. I hope to be able to start by the middle of the month. Jhedir6
Ok Jordan, if its not too late, add me in. I'm going with the folllowing, I believe its a 1995 Honda Civic, but someone more educated than me can clarify that. Hosted on Fotki Probably will just be OOB since it's actually a pretty nicely detailed kit by the looks of it. I'll decide more once I get it opened up and inventoried later tonight. May do a wheel/brake swap, I'll have to see what I have around. Paint to be decided later on. Thanks David Edited January 7, 2018 by Jhedir6

Since I'm doing mine 80s/90s pro street style it was allowed
Cpt Tuttle
Seems like the first PT Cruiser was built februari 14th 2000.....the body missed the 90s by 2 months. But if 80/90s style is enough, then OK! Edited January 8, 2018 by Cpt Tuttle
iamsuperdan
From what I understand, you could build a new Aventador if you wanted, provided the detailing and customizing gave it the spirit of the 80s/90s. Slow progress on mine, but it's coming along. I've updated my thread in the "on the bench" section.
Cpt Tuttle
Yes, that's how I interpret the rules too. It was just that my memories said that the PT did enter production somewhere before christmas 1999, I was wrong but still it would have been fun if you could slide it in as a 90s car, barely! dodgelover
I love the pt because of the retro styling of it. I actually own a 2007. I love the little car and my model is a physical representation of how I want to eventually build my 1:1. This was the easiest way for my wife to see my plans........ She approves. Lol.
Jordan White
As I said before, I'm aware that it's actually a 2000s only car, but I think of the PT Cruiser's styling as more of a 90's design. Plus, he's doing it pro-street style which is definitely a very 90's trend!
dodgelover
Updated my thread first kit in years in on the workbench. Wheels are detailed with paint in the holes and new slicks from tedsmodelmarkerplace.com. interior is cute to fit along with the windshield being notched for the motor. Motor is done with just a fuel line. Working on the rest of the engine bay.
Cpt Tuttle
Not much work done yet on the Esprit, but at least I've got paint for it....
Cpt Tuttle
Engine and gearbox glued together and painted.
Cpt Tuttle
Quite a nice engine in this kit! This model is said to have problems with the suspension sitting too high. The easiest way of solving it is to cut down the frame tunnel to allow it to slide up further in the body. So I did such a modification which seems to have turned out well.
