wheelcovers, similar to these needed for project

Recommended Posts

Hi Gang, Anyone have any ideas for a suitable cover to replicate the cover in the pic?  I think its a 68 Belair full wheel cover.

I have a vague recollection that the MPC '68 Impala kits had wheel covers like that. Maybe. Which means maybe someone somewhere has reproed them.

The only things in the same ballpark I can think of might be in the AMT '65 Chevelle wagon and El Camino. Not really very close but the best I can come up with.

Closest thing in a kit would be MPC '71 Impala.  Closest, not exact though.

How many '64 Chevies were sold in that light metallic blue?  My dad had one, my grandparents had one, and one of my uncles had one.  For a couple of years, every time we visited the grandparents, there would be all three of them there.

Maybe half of them? My neighborhood friend Eddie's folks had one, a wagon. (Later they added a Tahoe Turquoise '67 Malibu 4-door.)

My buddy had a '65 Impala in that color also.

It would be a 1964 full wheel cover, on that 64 Chev in your pic.

1968 Chev wheel covers were completely different.

Never have seen a wheel cover like that one you are seeking in a kit form.

I just google-imaged both 64 and 68 Chevy wheel covers. It looks like they had a wheel cover of that general style both years. It's hard to tell from the pic, but they look a little more like the '68s to me. But if you could come up with '64s, I think they'd be very close.

Those '64 Full Wheel Covers were never in a kit. The closest thing would be the 1968-1969 Chevrolet full wheel cover.

One other suggestion from left field: 1962 Studebaker wheelcovers. Very similar in appearance in real life; unfortunately the Jo-Han units are rather flat, but some scratchbuilding may fix the centers.
