Richard Bartrop
Sold through Canadian Ford dealers as it's own make, even though it's nearly identical to a Mercury of the same year, which could be purchased at your local Canadian Mercury dealer. I'm starting with AMT's venerable 1949 Mercury kit, and have started on altering the trim.

espo
Very impressive work on the Grill, you need to cast that for the future.

The thought had crossed my mind. How much demand is there for '49 Monarch grilles?

You'd sell, what seven of 'em, all to Canadians? I do dig these Canadian only models (makes?) like Beaumonts and the like, and I love how the front fender trim on this one looks like it was sliced right into the fender. Is that a light at the forward end of the trim piece on each fender?

From what I've read, that's a cats eye style reflector in the end of the Monarch trim.

I've seen some custom Fords sporting Meteor grilles, so it would not surprise me if a few custom Mercs received some Canadian dental work as well. Some Canadian customizers have worked their magic on the '49 Monarch, and not surprisingly, they respond as well to the customizer's touch as the Mercury.
